Goes without saying, but this is a huge game tonight. A win over there would really give us a big leg up in the SEC title race and quell any doubts that the Tennessee win was a fluke.

I think the best we can hope for is a game similar to the one in auburn, but we always seem to struggle shooting in that gym. Hoping for the best and gonna try not to lose all hope if we struggle. LSU has good enough players to hang with anyone, but I do think we’ve got a better team. If we race out to a hot start they will roll over and get boat raced

You mean a big leg up in SEC tournament seeding wise. We just need to stay in Top 3 for the rest of season. I think we just need to make it a close game tonight and I'm not sure how we'll respond to LSU. They're a good team but I think we're better.

No, I mean winning the regular season title. On paper we’ve played and won our toughest conference game, at UT. Tonight and @Mizzou are the toughest left. We’ll be in a great position to win the league if we split those two

I think we can win them both.

We have won 4 consecutive conference games since then, 3 of which were total arse kickings. I don't think anyone seriously considers it a fluke at this point. It's not like the game was this past weekend or something.

A win in this game would just be bonus points. If we lose the worst thing that will happen to us is all the dumbfrick corndogs suddenly deciding that the outcome of sporting events are totally legitimate again and trying to troll. So in a way we really can't lose tonight.

Any thoughts about tonight's game? Should be an exciting game, but a little worried about how we matchup with them defensively. LSU is pretty good at drawing fouls.

A loss here isn't devastating either. No one in their right mind thought we'd be undefeated at this point. I think Oats has shown us he's a solid enough coach to avoid a typical Bama basketball implosion.

They have a lot of capable, athletic scorers. We need to play really good defense and even then, we won't shut down their top 4 players. It would have been great to have Bruner available defensively for this game, but I'm hoping one of the young guys can step like they did against Arkansas.

LSU has a really good team. They're the only SEC school averaging more PPG than Bama right now. Petty and Herb are going to have to play lights out defense and the whole team needs to shoot well. I think Bama can win, but this has the potential to be our toughest road game thus far, including UT.

Wanting to bet this game tonight. Right now I show LSU -1 and O/U 164. What are y'all thinking?

Honestly don't have much of a clue - think it'll be a good game. If LSU plays their A game it will tough for us to win in Baton Rouge. If LSU plays sloppy like UGA and Carolina I'd say we have a good shot.

I expect LSU's A game, though, and LSU's A game on offense alone makes them a very difficult team to beat.

KenPom is showing LSU -1 with 163 pts. For some reason I don't see this coming down to a 1 point game though. Both teams are so hot I just think at some point one of us will have an off night. Hoping its y'all

Chad. What does the net number mean? Does it mean that we beat this analytic’s number 4 best team Tennessee and lost to it’s 30th best team Clemson?

Yes, basically. Your entire resume gets boiled down to a single number. Who you beat, who you lost to, strength of schedule, home, away, neutral site records all in the mix as well as all of those same results from everyone else we play. They put all those results together (along with other metrics that we don't really know what they are) and use a formula (that we don't know) and spit out the NET Rankings.

quote:

NET (The NCAA Evaluation Tool) is the ranking system the NCAA adopted in 2018 to replace Rating Percentage Index (RPI) as its primary evaluation tool in evaluating Division I men's basketball teams.

Net Rankings are now the single most important rankings as far as the NCAA is concerned for making the NCAAT.

As long as Bama continues to be aggressive going to the rim, and finishing, I think they will be fine. I think they could get LSU into some foul trouble and take advantage similar to the UT game.

We are going to need Reese to stay out of foul trouble, as he is really our only experienced big without Bruner. Ambrose-Hylton showed well versus Arkansas, but he has still played only 37 collegiate minutes to date.

I was a little confused about Reese's usage against Arkansas, to be honest. First game without Bruner, and Reese only played 14 minutes, which is equal to his season average coming in prior to the Bruner injury. And he didn't have a single foul, so it's not like that was the issue.

Maybe it was just because we steamrolled them and Oats wanted to keep him fresh for tonight knowing he was going to have to play major minutes?

But you can make the counter-argument that Reese needs to get stretched out and used to playing more minutes in Bruner's absence.

No need to lose hope if we struggle and/or lose tonight. SEC road games are hard enough to win as is, but playing one of the best teams in the conference on the road makes it that much more difficult.

We've proven we are in the upper echelon of the conference, so dropping a game isn't a huge setback. That said, it would be a really big win for the regular season conference title picture.

Exactly, no reason to put too much stock in this one game. We went 6-0 in probably the toughest stretch of the schedule. If we came back and said we went 6-1 in this time frame, we would have all said you were crazy.

What's up with everyone and the SECT?

I know it has been a while since we had an at large bid worthy resume heading into the SECT, but the SECT is not an overly important part of the season when compared to the regular season or NCAAT. The SECT can be used to improve NCAAT seeding, but the SECT is much more important for a team trying to play its way into the tournament.

The SECT is also probably not going to happen, if we are being honest

I took LSU now +1 and the over 164. Should be a fun game tonight! I expect LSU to play absolutely zero defense as usual
