We went 6-0 in probably the toughest stretch of the schedule. If we came back and said we went 6-1 in this time frame, we would have all said you were crazy.
Still can't believe it, TBH. Before the 1st conference game, we all looked at the first 9 game conference stretch and thought 4 or 5 wins would be great.

If anyone offered 6-3, we would have snatched their arms off, and we are already guaranteed at least that with 3 to play.

I was a little confused about Reese's usage against Arkansas, to be honest. First game without Bruner, and Reese only played 14 minutes, which is equal to his season average coming in prior to the Bruner injury. And he didn't have a single foul, so it's not like that was the issue.
Maybe it was just because we steamrolled them and Oats wanted to keep him fresh for tonight knowing he was going to have to play major minutes?
But you can make the counter-argument that Reese needs to get stretched out and used to playing more minutes in Bruner's absence.
Yeah, I think the lead we had dictated that. Oats said Reese is going to have to play around 24 mpg during Bruner's absence. The Arkansas game was just a perfect opportunity to let some of the younger/bench guys get some meaningful reps/minutes in an SEC game.

The SECT is also probably not going to happen, if we are being honest
Yeah, that's the other thing. Might be wise to scrap it and get 68 teams ready for the bubble life.

Sorry typo... 163... thanks for catching that
Was going to be shocked to see difference of 20 in the total.

Lunardi has us as a 3 seed now.

Yeah if you told me after the WKU game that we were going to be 6-1 through 7 conference games I'd have started trying to figure out the logistics of every SEC team besides Alabama and Vandy canceling their seasons and us playing each other 18 times in a row.

Our game tonight has the highest total across college basketball.

Goes without saying, but this is a huge game tonight. A win over there would really give us a big leg up in the SEC title race and quell any doubts that the Tennessee win was a fluke.
I agree that it’s a massive game but a loss isn’t gonna create some new revelation about this team. Gonzaga would have trouble going 7-0 in our opening conference slate. The most important part will be responding when we eventually lose a game

46% of LSU's opponent's shots come from behind the three point line, but the opponents are only making 27.6% of them.

What time and TV channel is the game?

Tonight is a massive opportunity. If we win, the SEC Championship becomes a very real possibility and we become the pretty clear favorite. If we lose, we're still in a great spot through our toughest stretch of the season.

It’s funny how simple the game can get when you have: a) a competent defensive team, b) enough talented shotmakers, and c) a solid offensive scheme.
If we get enough solid possessions tonight (by not getting utterly annihilated on the boards and by taking care of the ball relatively well), we will get enough good shots to score 80 plus even if we don’t shoot amazingly.
At some point, it’s basically math. We (probably) aren’t going to shoot 20 percent from the field, so if we get enough good shots/possessions we’ll put points on the board. We just need to defend, rebound, and take care of the ball.

I apologize in advance if we happen to shoot 20% from the field tonight.
Obviously none of that means we’re guaranteed to win, but last year it just felt like we didn’t have much of a chance unless we shot the 3 ball super well. Because we couldn’t defend, we fouled a ton, and we weren’t especially good at getting to the rim.

Yep, Crede nailed it. It's math, and if you piece together enough of it and do enough of it well you get to a point where, to lose, you have to do MULTIPLE things poorly.
You aren't reliant on one or two things and your margins are not super slim (like when you play the game in the 50s). Can you still lose? Absolutely. Are the odds that you lose games against teams you are equal to or better than high? No, they aren't.
Find areas of the game where you can maximize your chances, fit your roster/game to be good at those, play the odds. That's basketball in the analytics age.

UA has won the rebounding battle in the last four games. Keep it up!

Why it was obvious Alabama was great even when they started 4-3:
Based on the shots taken, Bama was expected to win every single game they lost (even the 18-point Stanford loss)
Some games shots may not fall, but all you can do is continue to take em until your luck turns!
quote:
Despite losing these three games, if you look at the "SQ Result" column it's obvious that the Bama was getting the right shots, they just didn't go fall in those games.
In those games they lost, they were supposed to win by:
^15 in Clemson gm
^8 in Stanford gm
^7 in WKU gm

And now, Alabama is on a 7 game win streak and tearing up the SEC!
It's obvious that teams that are getting unlucky, will get better and those that are getting lucky, welp, will get worse. If you want to read more on Record Luck, here's a link: Record Luck = (SQ Win Percentage - Actual Win Percentage) *100
