“I think they actually lifted that rule and you can go annually now.”
You are correct. The rule was changed just last month.
The only thing I see is what a trip like that cost. NIL may limit it some. I wonder if a deal can be worked out with the host team/city to receive compensation. Sort of how in football schools pay teams to come to their stadium to play for a fee.

A home and home vs UCLA would be cool because I could stay with my friend in LA. Kansas would be fun.
But if we’re playing in Vegas I’m probably going to that as my big road trip.
Why can't we go to Storrs and have them come here? He and Nate are buddies and I would love to have Hurley in Coleman.

Yeah I’m watching that one from home

So a fringe 4/5 line squad. Not terrible considering all we lost in production.

I’m assuming this is with current rosters so not including Aden and Amari.

Kentucky is going through the equivalent to our “Mike” years.

We can only hope they don't get our Saban years

Not going to lie, when I first read this…without having caught up on the board yet, thought Bruce Pearl or Billy D were coaching somewhere in the SEC next year (or Oats changed his mind and had left us like Saban left MSU/LSU). Whew…glad neither of those are true.
Billy D at KY wouldn’t be fun…late term Cal and Pope have been great to us the past several years.

Pearl wouldn’t exactly be a Saban. Won nothing except local pie eating contests.

Wasn’t sure how closely the “Saban” reference held.
Side note, if Hurley had beaten Michigan, I’d have probably reluctantly put him close to Saban’s accomplishments. 3 NCAA basketball championships, with one being at the height of NIL, would be pretty close to 7 CFB championships in difficulty. The NCAAT is the hardest championship to win by a mile (although for big spending teams, that may be actually going the other way in basketball since we’re seeing a lot more chalk in the NCAAT…more parity in football nowadays, but probably less in basketball). He probably would need 4 or even 5 to pass Saban, but 3 would have been extremely impressive.

Yeah it’s tough to say because Wooden of course won so many so he’d be the easy pick but it was almost a different game. I’d probably say Krzyzewski.
Hurley is Kirby. Back to back titles at a place that wins here and there with basically the same roster. Let’s see how it sustains but definitely in the hunt for that Osborne, Roy Williams type pantheon

Billy D probably fits that profile as well. If he came back to college and got another one at a different school, it would definitely put him on another level.
ETA: Clearly a different game than when Wooden was coaching. Anytime a sport becomes more developed with more player talent and more talented coaches choosing it, stacking up championships gets harder. We’re at the point where college basketball coaches can make more money with less than half the games of an NBA coach. Things have changed a ton for college basketball just in the past 10 years.

And still call up G-League players to help their benches.

Including ones that have been drafted. In the new 5 for 5, does it still exclude actual NBA players or could a Philon come back and play for his 5th year after 2 yrs in the NBA if it’s not working out for him.

I checked. It's with both of them. But we also only have 10 players listed, the rest are either walkons or Collins.

We do this and we are destroying college basketball...they do this?

If we're being honest, that is the kind of projection I would expect with our full roster currently. Really hoping we're not done and add a legitimate guard, but if we've never been more reliant on freshmen showing out and a near guaranteed FRP being a draft drop out (as well as hoping legal issues don't hurt us). Our freshmen class (including Cloer in this group) is where our additions really stand out. Our portal class solves some of our needs, but it's been pretty underwhelming, especially considering the rumors of us being a top player this cycle came out. It just seems that NIL-wise, we are one cycle behind on what it takes to compete for top players for the second year straight.
Having said that, last time we were close to this reliant on freshmen was the year we were the #1 overall seed.

Florida just got another pretty legit PF. They're going to be dangerous.
I really hope Oats has a plan to get a good guard.

Tennessee landed Juke Harris today. They've probably spent 15 million on just their portal guys.
