Watching some Fielder highlights, he is definitely a 4 and we are in trouble if hes having to play the 5. He doesn't really play above the rim, and is going to struggle with more athletic bigs. Several of his "highlights" from this past season were him having to take tough 2s in traffic where he couldnt create space, as well as dunks where he had to regather under the rim to get up after a pass or rebound. I still think hes a great get and perfect for the system, but hes definitely a 4 or maybe even a big 3 in certain situations. Certainly better than getting Freeman who loves shooting long contested 2s while shooting 33% and also seems like a headcase. edit: Just calling what I see. I have seen a lot of comments comparing him to Grant. But he's a completely different player. Less athletic, doesnt have that kind of handle, but has a significantly better shooting stroke imo. He can shoot it from several feet behind the 3 point line too. I do think he has potential as a defender, hes willing, and moves laterally fairly well. Question will be if his lack of ups hurts his rebounding.

You aren't wrong no matter how unpopular it is. We need Garrison or Fleming to step up big at the 5 and let Fielder hold down the 4. It's plausible. Grant was a lot more special player than I think a lot of people are willing to concede or possibly understand.

Ewin is in the portal. Seems like he would have been a decent fit. Too bad he didn’t enter earlier.

Grant Nelson has a decent chance of making an nba roster after spending his last season here and first year in the developmental league(s) working on his shot form.

Seemed like most nba experts were surprised the nets didn't renew him after his 10 day contract

Is this Murphy saying we're done adding guys? Because we need at least one more guard. Badly.

I’m sure we they’ll add a guard though at this point it’ll probably be a depth piece more than an impact piece. The portal is closed so it’s just the process of picking through what’s left. Next season will hinge on Allen’s draft grade and Holloway’s defense attorney.

With the small caveat that the NCAA may pass the five for five thing later this summer which would give a lot of guys an extra year. Some impact guys would be available then but not sure how that would work or if it will even get passed.

There's another way to look at this .. it's possible they already got someone else that we haven't heard about and that they're done adding,.

Just hope we add another guard. Really need a good ball handler who can facilitate.

I think Bristow is going to have a really good year. Glad to have him back.

Bristow was pretty decent. Not a lot of offensive game, but hustled. Kind of need a Juwan Gary-type player IMO.

I don't know if I want that kind of player as a wing, but I do think we should just recruit big, tall kids who can shut down the paint on defense, rebound on both ends, and catch lobs at the 5 even if they can barely dribble a basketball.

If Bristow can start making layups (and stay healthy), I think he can be the Dioubate player for us. That Illinois game shows he’s got it in him.

We do need a guard, I think. Despite my previous comments saying we're fine there.

Anyone who doesnt think we need a PG at this point is insane.

If they arent close to 100% that Holloway will be back we need two.

According to the internet he already is like Dioubate

*asking for more money every time he ties his shoes correctly.

ETA: I’m joking. I’ve been the person on here calling the Bristow story bs since it first happened. Dioubate I’m not joking though.

Bristow's complete lack of offense was honestly kind of confusing to me. He's not a bad FT shooter. He made 33% of his 3s at a not insignificant volume (64 attempts) as a freshman, albeit at a lower level. So he's got some skill. We're not talking about a guy who is incapable of scoring more than 4 feet away from the basket unless he lucks into making a FT ala Nick Pringle. He did at least show up on the glass when he was able to play, but just like Williamson he looked like he had never actually tried to put the ball through the hoop before. You have to hope that with another year he can become a bit more of a 2 way guy. Obviously they think a lot of him since he's coming back after hardly playing, injury or not.

I 1000% believe the staff is expecting Amari Allen to return and be the starter at PG. He played the position several times for us this past year, and did a good job. I also think its our best recruiting pitch to get him back. Because if he can prove he's a good PG at 6'8, he would potentially be in the discussion for #1 overall in next year's draft class.
