Are there any 7 footers available in the portal? Still feel like we need a defensive big and a ball handler.

From what I understand, both Bama and UConn moved on from Freeman - or Freeman’s agent. We cancelled his visit and invited Fielder.

Have to make sure they actually can play defense. Williamson’s defensive numbers in a G5 league suggested he wasn’t going to be very helpful and it turned out to be extremely true.

Garrison, and Davis-Fleming played major conference ball at least and had some production albeit not stars. We'd had a lot of success with low to mid major conference transfers until Williamson though.

Fielder played higher quality opponents most nights in the Mountain West than Williamson did in the Patriot League.

I’m 85% sure Allen will be back. Only thing that would make him not is if some team promises his agent they’ll pick him fairly high.

He isn’t being mocked in a range that would make him go currently but he also hasn’t done the combine or private workouts yet so we’ll see but the likelihood is we’ll still have our sweet prince one more year.

IG follow snooping is about as crackpot and rarely meaningful as jet watching during coaching searches.

Davion Hannah to the portal. Hate that and would have loved to have hung on to him but seems like Oats encouraged him to enter

Doesn't really hurt my feelings. He looked pretty lost and like the game was way too fast for him before he got hurt. Of course, so did Jemison and he came around in the second half of the season. Hopefully this means good news on Wilkins though.

Was mainly referring to if we pursue a random G5 7footer. If they aren’t elite on defense in G5, they probably can’t help us no matter how good their offense may be (offense doesn’t always travel to the power leagues).

entering the portal this late makes me think he doesnt see much playing time on the horizon. Maybe another wing made a decision to stay.

I’m ok with this. I have a policy of not trashing current players while they’re on the team but Hannah just never had “it”. He seemed like a guy who was the best athlete in high school who didn’t know what to do when he could no longer out athlete everyone.

Even with Freshmen you usually see something that flashes and there just wasn’t much there. Even early on I was like “ok Allen is like a 9, Jemison is a 6.5, and Hannah is a 4” and then he lost all his minutes and figured we were headed this direction.

Isn't he a guard?

hes a taller guard though, more of a hybrid. Allen staying would definitely affect his playing time to a degree.

I think Oats' comments comparing him to Herb created unrealistic expectations too. Definitely saw the potential to be a great defensive player, but he got lost far too much, and was a black hole on offense much like Bethea was. Ball stoppers who arent the lead guard kill this offense.

He doesn’t have the handles to be a guard in Oats’ system. He’d have to play the 3 essentially
