My take on his statement was that a lot of the money that would have been earmarked for facility upgrades is going to have to go to offsetting revenue losses due to COVID. I did not get a good feeling about it.

Seeing what Tennessee’s class looks like after their additions the past month, they’re loaded. SEC basketball is going to be talented and a straight war almost every night.

I think theyve passed Arkansas as our biggest competition next season

I agree. Arkansas losing their assistant to OU the other day cost them the commitment of one of the best Juco players in the country as well they had signed.

I have hoped all along that attendance next year would be a MAJOR factor in deciding on seating capacity going forward. I'm convinced the teams that Oats will have will sell out Coleman on a consistent basis. It would be a shame to spend millions on a 8-10,000 seat arena and realize before it's opened that we really need 15-18,000

The good news is that Barnes has made a career out of assembling stacked rosters and underachieving with them.

He’s the Gary Patterson of college basketball. The better he recruits, the worse his teams seem to play.

Who do y’all think will be the top 4 teams next years?

I have Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Florida (I know Mike White isn’t a great coach, but with Johnson returning, and them hitting the portal well, I got em as a sleeper next year) Auburn and Kentucky are basically close interchangeable teams with Florida, but Kentucky is kind of all over the place right now but is still Kentucky and probably has a few more transfers/recruits otw before next year and Auburn lost a lot and doesn’t really scare me on paper but will still be a good club,

The Athletic just released their full 60 pick NBA Mock Draft 4.0 - no Primo and no Shack.

Good signs.

This is what worries me a bit for next year. It wouldn't surprise me if a few of these end up being Q4 games at home. They won't keep good teams out of the tournament, but a home loss to a horrific team like UGA or Mizzou in February is the kind of game that drops you a seed.

This is probably an unpopular opinion on here but I would rather have Coleman totally renovated rather than a teardown and build back. I hate the idea of having to play somewhere else while Oats has this program cooking.

Revamp Coleman with new scoreboards, bring the seating closer, and maybe even eliminate some seats. Redo the seating chart and get the students as close to the floor as possible to actually get some home mojo going. It can look totally brand new inside while not having to tear it all down. Use the rest of that money to continue improving facilities (and keep some in the banks for the next Oats extension).

Another reason why all SEC teams should be friends during OOC play

That 600 million is a 10 yr fund raising goal and we are 2 years into it. Phase one included the football stadium, the sports science bldg, and one of the minor sports. Phase II included bball. I think previously they were leaning toward gutting the inside of Coleman and making the seating capacity smaller. Who knows what they are exploring. Could be tear down and rebuild. Could be larger seating capacity than they previously looked at. Maybe some type of plaza where the students can stand around and look at their cell phones like zombies. Its obviously at the top of the project list now, though.

You have more confidence than me, but I sure hope you are right.
