At least give Upchurch the experience of pitching in the MCWS

The pitching has been good enough all season though. The hitting has been atrocious

There wasn’t anything going into Omaha that made me think that roster could compete with UNC/Texas/UGA.

I thought we could compete given solid pitching with Troy (if they didn’t get red hot), OM, WVU and OU but I hadn’t watched OU enough to realize they’d gotten some guys back and were probably closer to championship level than second tier.

Not really upset just wish they’d been competitive.

They did what they had to do to get there...hats off there.

But being outscored 20-2...doesn't get much uglier than that.

Dang, we need the mercy rule! This is beyond embarrassing. Hopefully they can build on this WS experience for next year.

Three of those seven runs came from what I can only explain the fault of analytics. I've never seen a first basemen and a third basemen (with runners on) play so far away from the line in my life. The rule of thumb in those situations is "If you're going to get beat, get beat to the inside and not down the line." We got beat twice down the line because on the ball hit down the third base line (which really wasn't that close to the actualy foul line), the third baseball looked like he was playing in the hole between SS and 3B. Same thing with the first baseman when he got beat down the line in the same inning.

Not the result we wanted. Would like them to have been more competitive but I truly believe we have the right coach in place and this is a foundation type season. I think they’re only going to get better from here.

Apparently that was the largest negative run differential for a CWS team since 1957.

Big Yikes.

Tough end but remember two years ago our coach was betting against this team and now they were one of the last 8 standing.

Would imagine Upchurch moves to Friday and we need to find Saturday and Sunday starters . And please add 3-4 quality bats

Agree with all of this. We weren't ready for the spotlight. Hopefully this is just the beginning. RTR!

This is the equivalent of earning the chance to play in the Masters and going out and shooting 89 on Thursday and Friday.

Let's post all of the most negative takes we can about this crappy run to Omaha (as if going to Omaha is anything to brag about). No one should meet the team plane coming home. That's for winners, and the mommies of losers.

Does Vaughn's office have a window? IYKYK.

Haven't been posting much due to life getting in the way, but super proud of this team and the season they somehow put together despite a ton of flaws. I was very critical of Rob Vaughn and skeptical of his ability to win in the postseason coming into this year, but he really proved himself. Hell, given the lack of resources and fan support, he's really overachieved, and we'd be lucky if we can hang onto him for as long as we can, which I doubt will be much longer unfortunately.
