I'm agree with most that "selling" out isn't something we want to do but at the same time....
We all agree that we don't have mega donors and we need help. Yet, no one wants a $12MM+ agreement for a small patch on our jersey.
Can someone tell me if $12MM can make a difference in today's CFB? The answer is a definitive, yes.
Mensah is the highest paid player at $6.5MM this year. I wouldn't do a 10 year contract like UT though (unless it scales)

I can’t think of a single example of private equity improving something.
Private equity extracts short term profits and leaves a hollowed out shell behind when they move on to the next thing.
Anyone thinking that’s some kind of long term solution needs their head checked.
Absent regulation or legislation college sports is going to continue down its current path to chaos and eventual ruin regardless of how many billionaires you have spending on your minor league sports franchise.

We do have quite a few millionaire boosters, but probably none that are all in like a few other schools.
Our NFL guys combined make way more than any other school and that is just the active players. Most of them might not commit much to NIL though.

My guess is Saban is more keen on encouraging some sustainable order to college sports rather than feeding the frenzy to turn programs into toys for billionaires.

If he chooses to donate, wonderful; if he doesn’t, so be it. He did a job for us, to the absolute best of his ability, for 17 years. That job has ended and so has any obligation to the university on his part

The people who are donating large to NIL are doing it for bragging rights without getting anything tangible in return except the university they love is successful on the field.
Do our current alumni in the NFL love the University of Alabama enough and care enough about bragging rights to shell out that kind of cash without getting or expecting anything tangible in return?

Demeco Ryans donated around $300K for a scholarship fund he created back when Mal Moore was the AD.
This was when Ryans had been in the league for several years.
Before NIL, but he has a lot more money now so who knows.

I wasn’t doubting that there were alumni willing to chip in. And kudos to Demeco who is among the classiest of class acts.

Oh no doubt... I just meant that Saban could lead the effort with his friends and former players. It probably isn't realistic, but having a base of 40 to 50 million to work with would certainly help. Obviously, others (like Texas) could do more - but it would certainly help

Like another poster said, Saban isn't going to help college football be a no limit NIL game by giving money to Bama. He is sitting in front of congress trying to do the opposite.

I think Greg Byrne is an elite AD.
I have no issue with anything he's doing, and I actually think that Yea Alabama is a brilliant idea, but it needs better content, and more behind the scenes looks at locker room speeches and whatnot. They could be releasing daily behind the scenes videos and content that would make every Bama fan want to subscribe.
I do agree that our old social media team was better. Courtney Morgan really hyped up what we were gonna be doing with social media. Where is it? Under Saban we had those sensational barber shop videos. What the frick are we doing now?
Also don't like a submarine on the field. Kind of a bad omen.
