The Atlantic Coast Conference

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today several football schedule changes, as well as adjustments to its Medical Advisory Group Report.

Following a recommendation from the conference Athletic Director football subcommittee, the league’s Athletic Directors have voted to preserve the integrity of the ACC Football Championship Game by evaluating each of the three teams in contention (Clemson, Miami and Notre Dame) based on a nine-game conference schedule. As a result, Clemson and Notre Dame will conclude the regular season this weekend.

Wake Forest, which was scheduled to play Notre Dame on Dec. 12, will now play at Louisville. Florida State will play host to Duke on Saturday, Dec. 12, and Florida State will travel to Wake Forest on Dec. 19.

Thursday, Dec. 10
Pitt at Georgia Tech (previously announced)

Saturday, Dec. 12
Virginia at Virginia Tech (previously announced)
North Carolina at Miami (previously announced)
Duke at Florida State
Wake Forest at Louisville

Saturday, Dec. 19
ACC Football Championship Game, 4 p.m., ABC (previously announced)
Georgia Tech at Miami (previously announced and if Miami is not in the FCG)
Florida State at Wake Forest

Should a game(s) involving Clemson, Miami or Notre Dame not be played this weekend, the ACC has the option to reschedule games on Dec. 12 as needed. Based on the current standings and results to date, Notre Dame holds all tiebreakers and has therefore secured a berth in the ACC Football Championship Game.

They told Miami not only are you not getting a real shot at making the title game but you still have to potentially take an L against UNC AND play another game title weekend .

I bet Notre Dame threatened to not play in their championship game.
it served them no purpose.
The ACC was forced to do this to placate Notre Dame

So I guess the SEC should give UA and UF bye weeks before their title game to even the playoff playing field.

Will still be even, the ACC had 11 games scheduled for each team.

ND and Clemson will now only play 10 regular season games, just like Bama and Florida.

No, they haven't.

The ACC isn't using divisions this year. Notre Dame, Clemson, and Miami are currently 1, 2, and 3 in the conference.

Notre Dame is in. Clemson will be after a win on Saturday. So the ACC has basically done what the OP alludes to.

I'm worried votes will be split between Mac and Kyle Trask.

I wouldn’t be mad if the SEC cancelled the Arkansas game and gave us two weeks to prepare for Florida.

Based on what the Acc & Big 10 are doing the Number of Sec games potentially could be twice what a Osu may play.I dont think Osu should be ranked at 4 and its not because there not talented enough to be ranked 4th.Its because both Fla and A&M haved played more games and better competition compared to Osu"s best win which is against Indiana. This is proved easily by looking at were a 2 loss Uga is ranked compared to Indiana ranking.
There nobody left that Osu can beat that's better than A&M or Fla losses and There Sec wins
So to make a Bama,Fla,A&M risk more possible injuries and covid competition exposer in a 10-11 game season is crazy when your Max is going to be 6 conference games

Ohio State has no right to be ranked #4 right now or even in the future. frick their potential, folks should vote on their accomplishments/resume.

Herbie seems to think that Michigan is going to go all LSU over their rival game and not show up. The thing is, that if they don't have the numbers this week, how could they possibly have the numbers the next? The 21-day tracing protocol is almost a given that B1G teams will be out multiple weeks.

I think it’s absolute bullshite that they are #4 over A&M and Florida. OSU hasn’t done anything to justify that.

If I was Miami or anyone else in that conference I would furious. We joke about the REC protecting our program within the SEC but this is like saying look we need to guarantee that we get one and now possibly 2 teams in the CFB playoffs. With how bad the PAC 12 is and the B1G basically out it appears ND and CU both could end up in. So to all the other teams you basically suck and we can not afford you might get lucky and upset one of them. But remember your payout could be bigger so lets all support this move. Total BS.
