Yea, expectations next year should be a top 6 seed in the tourney, no problem, if these guys improve. Avery has improved the program, but gotta take the next step next year.

Now that is officially the offseason. Avery needs to find a better offense to run. We will not get anywhere with the high ball screen every single time down the floor

You've got to have spot-up shooters to effectively run that. As good as Petty can be, he can be just as bad. Our guys have got to live in the gym this off-season and develop their consistency from 3-point range. That will keep people from sagging off the wings and helping with the high pick. I don't know why we didn't feed Hall down low. Or Smith. This off-season is a huge one for the development of this program. Do we build or do we regress?

And will Avery please make them run till they puke for every missed free-throw during practice. A big reason we got a #1 seed in the second round is our inability to make free-throws.

Excited to see what Smith can do next season with an entire off season to develop. He's a much better back to the basket guy than Hall, and we missed that much of the season.

Yea next year is a big year. We'll have program players without a lottery kid and some experience.

Yes.

And that is exactly the type team Avery needs to be able to win with at Bama. How often are we going to get the lottery players at Bama? He needs to be able to win and make the tourney without the great player.

Nova is gonna be fricked if those threes stop falling. They are the definition of live and die by the three.

They have 6 guys who shoot 39+% 3FG and get a million wide open 3FG off mismatches + pass extremely well for the occasional inside high% 2fg

I'd take my chances that all 6 3FG shooters don't go cold in the same game on wide open practice shots

Sexton is going to realize that he doesn’t want to go out like this and announce he’s coming back.

He’s going to play off the ball more with Butler being the starting PG and primary ball handler.

Butler
Sexton
Mack
Stretch 4 grad transfer
Hall

Ingram
Petty
Key
Galin
Reese
Wood
Schaefer
Giddens
AJJ

Probably going undefeated next season.

Yep, and it will be a year that shows if guys progress or not.

Huge year, exciting with all the returners, but I honestly don't know what to expect.

Hope for the best

The thing about Alabama basketball that kills me of recent is that we have said the following statements every year for the past 6 years:

We need a shooter.
We suck at FTs we have to get better.
Our offense sucks.
We have a shooter coming in next year, we will be better.
We need grad transfers.

I would never take the ball out of Sexton's hands. If anything, I'd put the ball more in his hands

Yep. There's something in the water that causes guys to just not be able to shoot when they get on campus. Hell, Sexton was a 90%+ FT shooter in high school, but as soon as he arrives in Tuscaloosa that drops down into the 70s.

Huge difference between shooting HS FTs vs on the big stage in D1 when significantly more exhausted

It is extremely common for FR to have some piss poor FT% relative to their shooting ability

Armond and Norris who barely played this year. It should basically be the same bunch minus Sexton

We have to have more shooting than just Petty and Mack ( I also am wary of expecting too much from transfers - see Christophe Varidel, Nick King, etc).

Reese and AJ JR should be at least ok (with Reese having a potentially high ceiling), and Butler is supposed to be a pretty good shooter.

But we can’t continue to fill lineups with guys that just cannot shoot (Key, Jones, Ingram, not to mention Smith, Giddens, and Hall). At least two of those first three need to at least gradually improve.

Herbert’s shot has never looked broken to me, but I’ve given up trying to project shooting improvement in our players. Key and Ingram just didn’t improve at all this year.

Hall had 5 rebounds, 0 blocks in the NCAAT.

That is surprising to me. He averages 6 & 2 per game.

He was dragged out of the lane pretty consistently today
