My latest and greatest. I don't think there has ever been a QB Auburn has had on its roster that I feared more than Nick Marshall - and that includes Cam Newton. This guy was so explosive and was tailor-made for Gus Malzahn's offense.

I don't think he tried very hard. What Gus should have done was identify high school QBs who had strong arms and ran 4.4-4.5 40s, but were destined to move to DB or WR at the next level because they were like 6'1" and played in a rudimentary offense, and offer them the unique opportunity to play QB in major college football. I will never understand why he didn't go that route with his QB recruiting. He was never going to find another Cam, but he could have found another Nick Marshall or two pretty easily.

Yeah but from the 5 minute mark of the 3rd quarter onward made it all worth it.

Having a bad defense leads to many a frustrating game.

Our redzone defense was pretty damn good in this game. Just couldn't cover their WRs down field. At all.

Cooper was unstoppable.

Yeldon was a beast.

Henry was a Henry.

Pretty heroic comeback by Sims after throwing 3 straight pucks. Gutsy.

I think part of his problem is he always wants to try and prove he's the smartest guy in the room so he often recruited guys that were good QBs but terrible fits in his system.

Pretty amazing how many different types of QBs that CNS has won with.

Leave it to Gus to put everything into the Alabama game Total pain in the arse for us even when they werent very good. Last year was the only time we put a true 4-quarter arse kicking on him

I think this was the main problem. The thing about Gus is that Cam and Nick weren’t guys that he viewed as QBs that fit his system, hence why the offenses in 2010 and 2013 took some time to get an identity.

In Malzahn’s mind his offense worked best with a passing QB, despite the fact that he had his best offenses with guys who teams were most afraid of their legs. It was baffling.

The Arkansas game was for him and the bama game was for the fans. It’s like he spent the entire year scheming these two teams.

I watched this game with my dear friend(whom some folks on this board knew) who passed away in 2018. Very fond memory with him.
