According to ESPN and USA Today, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has been in Texas battling an "unspecified health issue." There's no timetable on his return to coaching or even speaking engagements...
quote:

"He'll tell y'all soon enough what he's going through, what he went through," Deion Jr. stated, according to USA Today. "When we get back to Boulder, I don't know. I'm waiting until my dad leaves. When he leaves, then I'll go. Until then, I'm going to sit here with him."

Does he have diabetes or something? I know he lost a toe or a foot or something the last 5 or so years. Sounds like diabetes.

He’s barely been holding on to his legs. Wishing him the best. That’s a tough road.

In one of the interviews I saw him in recently, the one with him complaining since the draft about the feedback about his kids team interviews, I noticed that he appeared to have lost weight. I don't like Deion, but I don't wish him ill or harm. Prayers for his health.

Thanks for showing some humanity, we don't have to like anyone, just love them for being a fellow human being.

Just in time to "retire" since Shadeur is done. When all his sons done there, illness is too much retiring. Laying the seeds now.

Back around 2010, Deion and his buddies played a weekly basketball game at the gym I used. Almost every Tuesday, he would lead a group into the locker room but he looked like he could barely walk…kind of hunched over and limping. I wish him the best.

Him and the antics of Colorado football are annoying but I do respect the dude and sometimes he’s bigger than himself but above all he really has the best interest of the players and don’t wish that on anyone. Hope he heals up quick

Probably complications from diabetes. He’s already lost part of his foot.

He had surgery on a dislocated toe at UMC when he coached at Jackson State. They screwed up the surgery and he almost lost his foot.

I’ll give him credit that his boys are loyal to their dad. Tight family.

"He had surgery on a dislocated toe at UMC when he coached at Jackson State." As you go onto say they "screwed up the surgery", do you actually mean "UMMC" in Jackson? Mistakes of others are easy to point out. Also: Are you an orthopedic surgeon to make this call, btw? Do you have specific absolute full knowledge of his case and are qualified to adjudicate it was some fault of UMMC? (Not simply from hearsay) Sometimes surgeries just don't resolve to plan. Possibly the rehab wasn't correctly executed. Lotsa reasons for issues. Plenty of good folks working at UMMC in challenging conditions, it's a shame when folks trash them casually.

It hasn’t been UMMC in over 10 years dumbass. They are branded as UMC now. I trained at UMC so I’m aware there are good people there. I also would never have surgery on a complicated condition in Jackson, MS, if I was a celebrity that could go to any surgeon in the country. UMC did not handle his complication well and now he’s in pain the rest of his life. UMC is not a world class medical center. It’s not even top 25 in the country.

I stand corrected on UNMC. They had rebranded to UMC but looks like they switched back recently to UMMC. They still are not a top orthopedic hospital and Deion should have gone somewhere else.

He's an easy target, but he has had several major health problems over the years. Blood clots in his legs, and has lost several toes due to that problem.

Didn’t he have his foot amputated? I would imagine this is related

He had real bad turf toe that he did not get surgery for until a couple of years ago. He had the procedure but developed either an infection or some kind clotting that cause them to remove the toe.
