Book direct with airline web site. These middlemen can cause issues. You can do a broad search but see a specific airline then go to their website.
When you have booked directly with the carrier (United, Delta, etc), it’s a much better negotiating situation if you need to alter your schedule or if the airline has an issue.
The only issue is when some flights are only offered by partner flights (e.g. United Airlines flies in and out of Canadian airports but not from one Canadian airport to another). In that case, you CAN book them separately but I’ve found it OK to rely on the partnership and book them all through one carrier. I strongly prefer that they (the multiple carriers) are in an alliance with each other.

I love San Diego. I like staying in La Jolla and walking my arse off around the area.
I’d have a place there or around Carmel if I was wealthy.
LaJolla to Disneyland (Anaheim) is 88 miles. On a Sunday morning you could get there quickly, the return trip might be fun.

We bought a house with a custom 30k gallon pool when our oldest kid was in 7th grade. Our kids and their friends used it a bunch and then (after 13 years) once the youngest was about to leave for college we moved from that house to a nicer house without a pool.
I was the pool boy and quickly got good at it.
No regrets but I don’t want another pool. I didn’t actually use it that much.
My pool area was heavily landscaped which required the yard man (again, me) to do extra work rather than it being instead a nondescript patch of lawn.
It was a very nice architectural feature of the house and it probably made the house sell more quickly (but who knows?).
tl/dr: Pools are good in the appropriate situation
