Clemson AD Dan Radakovich talked about head coach Dabo Swinney eventually leaving for Alabama after
Joshua S. Kelly-USA TODAY Sports
Clemson AD Dan Radakovich talked this week of the possibly of head coach Dabo Swinney eventually leaving for Alabama after Nick Saban decides to retire. Per The State...
quote:

“That’s not something that I think about every night when my head hits the pillow, but certainly whether it’s in football or basketball or baseball or any of our sports, as an AD, you have to be ready for some of those things that may come down the path,” Radakovich said.

[…]

“I certainly hope that we’ve been able to demonstrate to Dabo that you can get to the highest level right here at Clemson, and he’s been able to do that. So there’s so many positives about the university,” Radakovich said. “We have a great Board of Trustees. We have an incredible president. We have some alignment going there that has allowed us to do our job, and I think that you don’t find that everywhere, but we have it here. I think that’s a big X factor.”
Do you think he'll leave for Alabama one day?

I've seen him speak at the Bear Bryant Coaches Award ceremony three times now, and every time it feels like he's auditioning for the Alabama job. He speaks with such reverence and respect for the UA and for Bear. It makes me want to puke.

We know Alabama is willing and able to throw down $$$$ for college football like no other university. If they eventually want Dabo, they'll get him. Even if Clemson gave Dabo a TAMU-like contract tomorrow, it wouldn't be enough, in that situation.

Dabo would crawl to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama job.

Dabo going to TTown one day is the worst kept secret in Clemson.

*IF* Clemson can come up with the money then it's Big Money and Coach Clemson or you can get Big Money and Coach at Alabama. With money being equal (and it probably won't be), coaching at Alabama > Clemson. Blue Blood vs New Blood. Steak vs Chopped Steak.

Stay at clemson and be the greatest coach in the history of the program or go to bama and be 3rd best ever?

He is already the greatest coach in their history. He is coming to Alabama. Deal with it

Everyone knows Bama is his dream job- when Saban hangs it up, Dabo will be in Bamaland before the retirement message becomes official...

even though dabo has ties to bama, clemson will drop fat stacks to keep him

This won't be about money. Dabo dreamed about being an Alabama player, often has talked about listening to John forney call the games, walked on, paid his own way, earned a schollie on a Bama team that was LOADED. He bleeds crimson. If he turned down Alabama he would never get over that. He has one dream job folks. Like it or not.

If Bama calls he is gone.

Why would you leave a school that adores you, and believes they are in your debt to go to a school where you would always be living in the shadow of two legends. Even if he won 4 National Championships in Tuscaloosa he should have won 5 or 6 or 7.

If Dabo is smart he won't leave Clemson for Alabama...YET. Let somebody else follow Saban, fall short of his success, let the fanbase get pissed and the University run him off, and then come in and save the day. You want to be the guy that follows the guy who followed the guy.
