We run the same offense, however with a quarterback that refuses to run. Nothing exotic happened here. The idea that A&M would have stuck with their starter and we gave them three short possessions because of irresponsible turnovers by our quarterback, three times in our own 35 that they would not have scored is a fantasy. A&M put up 21 points driving less than 100 yards total, regardless of who was at quarterback that was going to happen, imo. The idea that Kelly throws players under the bus does not jive, any other coach would recognize that Jaime Howard 2.0 showed up in the second half, but I believe Kelly has been pretty diplomatic with his criticism of Nuss. Stop blaming the defense, they did not sign up for three drives starting in scoring position for the other team. we have no running game because our OC cant adjust and stop running the read option with a non running quarterback. If you are unwilling to pull your quarterback, like A&M did, or start running a two back set to grind a bit and shorten the game with the lead, that is on coaching, but not the immature interceptions, that's on the QB who plays way too loose with the ball. We could have rolled out Andrew Hatch, Jordan Jefferson or Marcus Randall in the second half and won that game. No turnovers, long, time consuming drives with an average field goal kicker and special teams and LSU wins.

The reality is that defense came in with a game plan focused on their offense with Weigman. When he got pulled, they got shellshocked after the INT and one play TD run. The reality, is they were playing on their heels the rest of the game and the coaches did not adjust well. The players definitely have a major responsibility for how it played out, but this is honestly a lack of leadership at the player level on the defense. There is no true leader on that defense, particularly in the LBer and DB corps that can take the reigns and get them refocused.

Plenty of talent on the defense, but with read option defense, it is heavily reliant on the communication between players and each holding their responsibilities. They did not do that, and things just went to hell. Do not be surprised if USCe beats A&M this weekend. They are not that great of a team, and LSU helped make them look way better on multiple fronts will self-inflicted wounds.

Lots of work to be done by everybody, top to bottom.

Bruh they scored a touchdown on almost every drive with the option qb. This guy is straight up lying!

If we go into halftime 30 - 7 instead of 17 - 7, none of this matters.

Who is calling the defense?????

Bottom line:
We already have a thin D, with no real studs. The D players we had were taught/ coached on what to do, and did NOT make the plays.

We beat bama, everyone’s happy again.

That's a big if....we can't stop Reed, why would they be able to stop Milroe. They are going to test the waters real fast on the read option with Milroe.

Even if they lose the other three?

Was just a freak thing. To the benefit of A&M.

Kelly just isn’t a great coach. He’s a slightly above average coach.

Who’s better? There definitely are better coaches but not many.

Who did you want when BK was hired? Riley? Napier? If it wasn’t one of the 3 listed, who else could it have been?
user avatar
CanebreakCajun17 months
No. He is very good coach. Were you a Napier, Kiffin, or Riley guy?

Its time to let this go, move on, learn from it and prepare for bama..... we've heard every excuse known to man on why they lost that game... LET IT GO...

Should have been at least familiar with it. Every team has running QB now except LSU plus Milroe coming up

UMMMM. That’s EXACTLY what he said and what they are. Do you spend 20 allotted hours, which includes film, weights, meetings, etc focusing on someone who BEAT YOU 2 years ago and is the starter or a guy that runs the same offensive structure you saw the week before and multiple times this season?
The fact is the defense got tired and TAMU got short fields multiple times from TO and never had longer fields because of piss poor punting and kicking.

This 20 hours a week thing is a myth. Everybody knows it.

I went into the video fully expecting BK to throw players under the bus (based on your comments)

Some of yall are just freaking weird and will do/say whatever to make BK look bad.

It was a read option. Every team in America runs read option plays. A&M wasn't doing anything crazy.

The D should have handled it.... right?

That was a poor answer by Kelly, the defense should have been shown film on Marcel Reed and their specific offense and not relied on some training from spring that was similar. Really disappointing answer

You say "some training from spring that was similar." That's not what Kelly said at all. Why are you bullshitting. Like Kelly said, Reed ran read option and some other things. They work on stopping those plays all year long. The players knew what to do, they just didn't do it.

Your post is more disappointing. Hows the view from within your anus? Seems like you're having a brown out.

Did it the week before. Ask why. They LBs and Burns played like shite. Some of it was fatigue. Look how slow they were and trying to arm tackle as the RB or QB ran by. Their eyes were not focused on reading the play and playing their assignment. The DL needs their shite handed to them as well

Way to throw your players under the bus coach! What a great recruiting tool that is.

It will not help. He said they were prepared for that but did not execute. Putting it on his players.

Good. That’s who it should be on. The people on the actual field.
