LSU coach Lane Kiffin provided an update Monday on Ed Orgeron, who has recently been away from the program while dealing with a health issue.

Kiffin said Orgeron is improving, although he admitted the situation was concerning at one point.

“He’s doing better,” Kiffin said. “It was a little bit scary. I’m not going to get into any details with that. But he’s doing better. He’s still not all the way back.”

Kiffin then shared a very Ed Orgeron-like conversation the two had about his health.

“He said, ‘Hey, coach. You know I’m never going to the hospital, man. If I die, I’m dying out on that field there,’” Kiffin said.

“That’s who he is, that’s how he is with everything. Sometimes that’s not always the best thing to follow.”

Orgeron returned to LSU’s football staff this offseason as the Director of High School Recruiting after Kiffin took over the program. This current health issue forced him to miss fall camp practices and LSU's first two games of the season.

No rice in the O’s gumbo and he will be right as rain in a week. Seriously though, get well coach, you are a Louisiana and LSU icon. Sure would be great to have his energy on that field Saturday. We need our DL ready to run through a brick wall for 4 quarters.
