During the SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday morning, LSU's Brian Kelly revealed that running back John Emery Jr. will not be available for Sunday's season opener vs. No. 8 Florida State.

John Emery Jr. missed spring practice due to academics but was a participant during fall camp.

Kelly mentioned Notre Dame transfer Logan Diggs, Josh Williams, and Noah Cain as running backs that will likely be involved in run game vs. Florida State. Freshman running back Kaleb Jackson could also be an option.

They should just release news about when he IS available, instead of when he isn't. Save time.

A 3 running back rotation of these 3 will be tough on opponents come the late 3rd and 4th quarters. With LSU's massive and physical OL pounding on the defense these guys should eat big time late in games.

With the countless fumbles and many more near fumbles, I don’t think this is a bad thing.

At this point, I'm questioning whether this guy even knows how to read. His academic advisors must have some sad but amusing stories to tell.

Apparently the shrink on staff was of no effect.

Just dismiss him from the team and get it over with already. He’s never going to do anything at LSU. Huge waste of talent.

Just say when actually plays. Until then act like he’s not on the team, which he pretty much isn’t nor ever has been. I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if I had his god given talent and just pissed it away like this. He could have been a day one or two pick in the draft if he had just gone to class.

So tired of these kinds of cryptic updates from LSU. Tell us why he isn't available. We have been told how he is making progress, practicing with the team, getting his off field requirements taken care of. Blah Blah Blah. So now tell us what the reason is. Is he not eligible, is he in trouble, is this an NCAA thing? WHAT IS IT NOW!!!

A CEO doesn’t explain anything to his own employees much less to the public. Kelly owes you nothing.
