Brian Kelly appeared on the SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday morning and provided the following injury update for defensive lineman Bernard Gooden and linebacker Whit Weeks.
quote:

"Gooden practiced yesterday," Kelly said. "He didn't get involved in everything, but we wanted to bring him in slowly. So, he got some individual reps and some team reps. The report this morning was that he felt good."

"Whit is still non-weight bearing. He's in the boot, and we'll keep the boot on for another couple of days before we know what he can do. He's been doing some additional treatments, and he's feeling better, but we won't know about him until later in the week."

Here’s my issue, he’s ok sitting these two and not forcing them out there. But why was Nuss pushed out there vs Tech or SE?

Because these two were in immense pain and were unable to even remotely do what they were expected to. Whit is non-weightbearing. If he could walk, he would play. Gooden is still injured and is getting ready to play. Nuss's situation wasn't the same.

There is a huge difference between an ankle sprain (Nuss) and a bone bruise. I had a bone bruise in HS. I did not want to even walk around, much less practice and play on Fridays. I currently have an ankle sprain. It happened back in August and still hurts like a son of a bitch, but I can walk around and do yard work. It just is very sore afterwards.

Simple…if the team doctors say whether a player can go or not.

Will be huge to get Gooden back on the DL. Guy is a beast. Weeks is out. Rainy night so this one will be interesting for sure.

Full speed, yes, but playing at anything less, with his play style, will be a detriment. I do trust Williams, probably more so than any other coach on the team to make the right decision.

Without Whit this D is severely hobbled. It was quite evident last Saturday how key he is setting the coverage and making plays.

Still in a boot on Wednesday means he's very doubtful for this game. And for the record BK, non-weight bearing and walking in a boot are 2 very different things

Weeks is the MVP of the defense. Sounds pretty grim
