was under the impression that Project Freedom is intended to not escort any “new” ships into the strait, but instead to escort ships out that have been more or less stranded. Perhaps I’m wrong though.

You're not wrong. That was the intention of the late, great Project Freedom.

To Bbonds’ point, Iran has said 1,000 times they are not talking until the blockade is lifted. Maybe this gesture gets them to the table.

The blockade was not lifted. According to President Trump we are suspecting the humanitarian Project Freedom AT THE REQUEST OF PAKISTAN.

Again, hard to believe any of this. Why would Pakistan not want us to help commercial vessels transit through Omani waters? How would that be an impediment to negotiations with Iran, but the blockade of Iran (an act of war) is not?

I’ll bet you wished we had. But we haven’t. Mostly because people like you pretended it wasn’t happening or wasn’t a big deal. And now you’re soiling yourself because Trump isn’t bombing the shite out of things. Just a few weeks ago you were soiling yourself when he was

You're psychotic. Point to ANY post where I complained about Trump's conduct of the war...or admit that you're a vile liar.

What on Earth are you talking about with "people like me?" Again, find anything I said in favor of Biden...or admit that you're a liar.

Because negotiations progressed. Good lord. Have you never taken part in a negotiation?

I remember you doubting my acumen because I was so certain that the perjury charge against Comey would be dismissed because Halligan wasn't eligible. Fun times.

Here, I find it almost impossible to believe that President Trump isn't lying when he claimed that negotiations had progressed in between Rubio's news briefing on Operation Freedom which ended. about midnight Tehran time and Trump's announcement about 3 a.m. Tehran time. You think Rubio was left out of the loop?

you're a little late to the party

the guy who

fumble fricked his way out of Afghanistan
fell on his face at the Air Force graduation
wandered away aimlessly and had to have Meloni change his diaper and hold his hand at the paralanding.

had that covered a few stops back.

I thought we had turned the page on that. But, yesterday you had the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the JCS brief on the importance of Operation Freedom. This afternoon, the Secretary of State did the same thing.

Then, less than three hours later, we abandoned the humanitarian, defensive Operation of Freedom. Why would we "suspend" this completely defensive operation in Omani waters to negotiate???

Aiming for diplomacy and a compromise is a bad look to you? If he bombed the shite out of them I guarantee that you would say that’s a bad look too. It’s almost like whatever Trump does you will seal clap at the “bad look.”

Wrong again. Probably a waste of time to respond to you, but I have been supportive of the War. The bad look is to lie about why we are abandoning Operation Freedom. This will become abundantly clear when the Iranians wake up tomorrow and expose the lie. We simply couldn't find anybody (other than American-flagged vessels) who trusted us to protect their safe transit past the Iranians.

Here was my thread on what a great idea Operation Freedom was:

We Agree to Escort Ships

Here was my thread from a few hours ago complimenting Rubio's explanation of how great Operation Freedom was:

Rubio Killing It

Did he pause the blockade?

Two different parts of the equation. The blockade is designed to crush Iran's economy. Operation Freedom was to help the US economy.

SIAP... there is more to this Project Freedom...

We look pretty silly now in light of abandoning this effort so quickly.
quote:

You simply can’t make these tankers cross the strait because the insurance is too expensive. And there are so many ships that if Iran just started firing some would get hit.

Correct. Why on Earth did we over promise with "Operation Freedom?"
quote:

mean, he has pretty clearly been lying or gaslighting since we apparently had a deal a few weeks ago.

Trump was clearly lying a couple of times in his Truth Socials. But that could be chalked up to market manipulation and/or Trump's optimistic nature.

This is different. It causes doubt about our military capabiity. Yesterday, our military made a plausible pledge to protect ships transiting the Strait. But...apparently...we only sent two of our sixteen available destroyers.

This is the first time we made a pledge that we cannot fulfill.

Only the most gullible would believe there was a magical breakthrough around 3:00 a.m. in Tehran.

Its pissing off all the right tards on here thats for sure

Who is pissed off? This destroys our credibility.
Holy Cats. Does anybody believe this? BAD look.

There's 2 destroyers and those container/oil ships move very slowly. Takes hours. Not sure how many they can move at once.

Good points. Thanks.

Not to be a buzz kill, but at this rate it would take years to "free" the trapped ships. Is this just a gesture to slow oil prices while we hope the Iranian Regime collapses?
quote:

We want to get those commercial ships that are trapped in the gulf out via Project Freedom

What do you think the hold-up is? Are we having a hard time recruiting ships to participate?

I think that's such a good point, especially because the 2030 Census will add to the strength of Texas and Florida.

Personally, I am for Rubio in 2028. Vance will be in his prime in 2036 (assuming he finds the right landing spot post VP). Two years out, who are you supporting?

quote:

Rubio is the front runner & wins, where does Vance go?

Good question. Like most, I would like him to stay relevant and visible for 8 years.

prefer him over JD now after seeing him kill it in this role.

Yup. We're lucky to have such excellent choices.

He is far and away the best cabinet member in terms of speaking for the Administration.

VERY shocked to agree with you. Would still be happy with Vance and even DeSantis, but Rubio has really shone.
