LSU Safety Commit Khari Gee Signs With Notre Dame

LSU safety commit Khari Gee flipped to Notre Dame on Friday and will be signing with the Irish.

The Atlanta, Georgia prospect originally committed to LSU back in May. Rivals has Gee ranked as a four-star prospect while 247Sports and ESPN have him as a three-star.

The loss of Gee is not a big blow for LSU as the Tigers signed talented safeties Derrick Davis Jr. and Sage Ryan, and Matthew Langlois on Wednesday.

LSU has two committed, unsigned recruits in four-star California linebacker Raesjon Davis and four-star weakside defensive end Saivion Jones from St. James, LA.

The Tigers will likely wrap up the early signing period with 19 players and few a "silent commits that will sign in February," according to Ed Orgeron. Signing offensive linemen remains the top priority when LSU wraps up the class early next year.

Update:
LSU closed out the early signing period on Friday night with a big commitment and signing from four-star defensive end Bryce Langston. The Tigers now have 20 signees for the 2021 class.

Well I didn't care that Khari Gee flip to Notre Dame, kids flipping is a part of recruiting. We lost two flips to Alabama and we flipped two prospects from Mississippi St. and one from Auburn, three positions of need. Now the one thing I do care about is Gee saying he signed with ND because of all the drama in Baton Rouge like he had a choice in the matter, I think he was informed to look elsewhere because we're good at safety.

Flippin like the trnsfer portal getting to be a regular event. These kids can read the headlines...and they know what the scoop is at their position...so if a school your committed to is loaded and has additional talent coming in the smart play is to go someplace else...playing time. Now having said that there are schools that don't experience the flippin or txfr portal.

Before we spend a lot of time on a recruit, can the coaches verify he has the chest first? This should be the #1 item on the checklist.

What is the value of a Notredame degree? I know that midwest schools have a myth about these schools being better higher ed institutions. However, not many of them of cutting edge acdemic programs. A few schools have stellar programs, otherwise most programs in these are run of the mill. Which program will Gee be graduating in?
