Four-star defensive end JaReylan McCoy from Tupelo, Miss., announced his de-commitment from LSU on Monday morning.

The 6’7, 245-pound lineman from Tupelo High School announced his commitment to LSU in January at the Under Armour All-American Game, picking the Tigers over Ole Miss, Tennessee, USC, Alabama, and others.

McCoy is rated the No. 12 defensive lineman in the country and the No. 6 player from Mississippi, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

His de-commitment leaves LSU with five verbal pledges for the class of 2026.

$$$MONEY$$$ Highest bidder, we will see a lot more of this. If NIL negotiations are aloud to continue until Fall camp. This will get more out of control as it is already. NCAA needs to set dates and limits concerning NIL.

I sort of feel like the Seinfeld car rental episode: The whole point of making a commitment is keeping a commitment. Anyone can just make a commitment.

I don’t know why we even have a recruiting board and I don’t know why people get excited or even talk about high school kids committee these days, it is a total fricking force

Good for him. I guess his goal is to finish 4th-6th in the SEC every year

Maybe he thought committed meant commented, since that’s all his commitment was, a meaningless comment.

$ tactic. He used LSU as a bargaining chip.

I didn’t figure this one to stick….he is less than an hour from both Alabama and Ole Mrs. If he doesn’t want to be at LSU, he doesn’t need to be committed to LSU.

LSU should drop his offer and focus on players in the boot. They shouldn’t waste their time and energy on someone who commits for less than a month.

NIL is good in only that it allows evaluation of one’s character publicly.

The old saying is, "Sports does not build character. It REVEALS it."
