Steve Sarkisian Working To Have Key Alabama Assistant Join Him At Texas
© Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports
Fresh off of being hired as the Texas Longhorns head coach, Steve Sarkisian is looking to bring a key member from Alabama with him...
quote:

...we’ve heard from sources that Sark is working to bring a key piece of the Alabama staff with him to Texas.

Holmon Wiggins, who is in his second year as Alabama’s wide receivers coach after a few seasons working under Justin Fuente at Virginia Tech and Memphis, is being targeted by Sarkisian to join his Longhorns offensive staff.

Wiggins has helped develop one of the most lethal receiving corps in college football history, led by Heisman finalist DeVonta Smith. Even after losing one of their top targets in Jaylen Waddle to a season-ending injury earlier this year, under Sark’s direction the Alabama offense has been one of the most explosive in college football history, and Wiggins’ wide receivers are a major part of that. They are also a key reason why quarterback Mac Jones is also a Heisman finalist, while completing over 75% of his passes heading into the national title game.

And once again, Saban will not miss a beat. Lose coordinators, coaches, tons of players to NFL draft and a down season is only 11 wins.

Its true. Getting credit for developing 18 star receivers you didn't even recruit. Is basically the coaching version of me scoring a new piece of arse with great fake tits I didn't pay for.

Holmon Wiggins - sounds like an Eastbound & Down character.

I play real sports, not trying to be the best at exercising

Every big program in the country tries to hire away Saban's coordinators and assistants in an effort to replicate his success.

Alabama wins natty. Saban retires, Sark is gone, the fall begins. A guy can dream right?

It’s a reflection of how good an organization is whether it’s Alabama or LSU when you lose an assistant because of a promotion taking a job elsewhere. Sabans success breeds success.

Saba doesn’t care. He has more turnover than a call center in India. All he ever does is close his eyes and fall arse backwards into elite assistants. Rinse and repeat.

People make too big of a deal out of assistants. An assistant simply carries out what the head coach says. Sabans former assistants have been pedestrian but saban keeps rolling. Not a coincidence. I couldn't care less who the next oc is. He will carry out sabans plan. Tell me again what sabans former assistants record is against him?

When is he not?

"When is he not?" .... maybe that's why he's so good. He refuses to allow his players and coaches to get complacent, and always tries to get better. Many great coaches through the years have been hard-arse guys.

Wouldn't leave Alabama for any place in Texas. Never saw the appeal of Austin for sure. I guess if you're 21 years old...meh, everybody has places they like and don't. Atlanta is the hottest town in America for celebs. ...and they can have that shithole.

Do Saban's assistants leave because the job is so pleasant and he is such a joy to work for?

They’re usually getting promotions. Because they’re good.

It’s one thing to use the Alabama program as a stepping stone to your own career. It’s another thing to poach coaches, players, and recruits on your way out the door. It’s pretty classless in my opinion

Does Sark have a gun to their heads? If they want to stay, they can.

Tell us more about what's classless. Is it classless to know you'll always be a WR coach under Saban. But if you go with Sark perhaps you become an OC in year 2/3? Perhaps are a head coach in year 5/6? Would you consider that classless, your opinion on the career paths of other men is obviously very, very important to us all. We'll be waiting on your response Fuhrer.
