Former Alabama football player and NFL Draft first round pick Rolando McClain was arrested on July 30...
quote:

"According to the Moulton Police Department, Rolando McClain was pulled over on Highway 157 for speeding. When an officer approached the car, police say the officer could smell marijuana coming from McClain’s vehicle. Police say that gave them probable cause to search the car.

When McClain was asked to step out of the vehicle, he told police there was gun was in the car. According to McClain, the gun did not belong to him. Police say McClain did not have a license to carry a concealed weapon with him," the report states.

Well I grew up in that area, and the biggest concern to me is that he was speeding. Why? And especially why on 157, which is one of the straightest and easiest places ever to get a speeding ticket? Do the math, you are taking all this risk to arrive at a place maybe 1 or 2 minutes faster. In order for speeding to make a real difference on time, you need to be driving 20+ mph over the speed limit. Speeding is for dumb people who don't understand math.

It's not illegal to have a gun in your car in Alabama.

Until Jan. 1 2023 it is illegal to have a handgun in your vehicle without a concealed carry permit.

Not sure why some states require a license to exercise a constitutional right. All states should be constitutional carry states.

Alabama passed constitutional carry early this year and goes into effect on January 1. I had just paid for my 5-year concealed permit before it passed! Lol. Oh, well. Might still need it if traveling to other states.

Not a Constitutional right to own a firearm. The 2nd amendment prevents the government from infringing on our natural right to bear arms. Remember if the government grants us the right they also have the power to take away that right. Madison and other founding fathers created the Bill of Rights to ensure certain natural rights could not be infringed upon by the government. Hence why gun debate is such a huge topic because according to the Constitution the government does not have the right to prevent us from owning a gun.

Amazing how it works out in your favor if you cooperate with the authorities.

He needs to hire a full-time driver since he has proven he is unable to sit in a vehicle without weed.

I'm sure this guy didn't exhibit any of this type of behavior while playing for Coach Nick Saban.

Hell...frick all those little towns west of Decatur nothing but speed traps. Town Creek, Rogersville, etc. But this guy will always have problems, Daddy Saban can't get his butt out of this sling.

I lived in Morgan County for 29 years and worked all over Lawrence County. I probably know it better than my home county. Hillsboro, North Courtland and Town Creek are notorious speed traps. Moulton is a backwoods good ol boy town. The sheriff’s department also has always been corrupt.

Meh. Pot (who cares), a gun ( I thought we were all carrying AK's now) and speeding (we all did this within the last 48 hours). Move along, nothing here.

Give him credit for having the good sense to be honest with the cops and not resisting arrest. He'll probably get off very light if anything. This is an example of how to handle yourself with police.
