Birmingham TV Anchor Is All Upset With What Reporter Called Nick Saban
© Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports
Birmingham TV anchor Rick Karle is all up in arms about a reporter calling Alabama head coach Nick Saban, "Saban," at his Rose Bowl press conference on Monday. He went on a very long rant in this Facebook post and posted on Twitter... "Saban" is unprofessional, but come on.

What a sad example of sports journalism in Alabama. Should have just called him Midget if they are going to get this upset.

Tommy Lee Jones- Ed Tom Bell character from No Country for Old Men said, "I think once you quit hearing "sir" and "ma'am," the rest is soon to follow." We are a society in decline. Of course nobody cares about manners or etiquette or respect any longer. We are a people of instant gratification, and have a total void of moral fiber among our leaders.

The whole idea that everyone has to adhere the “Coach” prefix as a necessity is a bit cringe. Obviously calling someone “Saban” is weird, but “Coach” is not a prerequisite.

Hope he sees this, bro. Reporters don’t play for him and aren’t part of the athletics department. Calling him “Coach” is arguably inappropriate. I guess he could lobby for Mr. Saban but I don’t see anyone bitching about reporters calling players by their first names.

Respect . He deserves none . How about a guy that tells parents of kids he’s recruiting that he’s gonna be their coach till the end . Then turns around a few years later coaching at a rivals team . Respect he deserves none ! Ask his former players that he lied to about RESPECT!
