We haven't heard much from Lolo Jones as of late. Here's why...
quote:
I’ve been silent. Really silent. I haven’t even had time to respond to texts messages on my phone because I have been preparing to make the USA National Bobsled Team. ?
?
I normally would spend 6 months to get ready. I spent three weeks. Why? ?
?
?
My body has transformed three times this year. ?
?
Track and field. ?
?
My main goal was to prepare for my last summer Olympics. I was 143 pounds and ready to compete in my last Track & Field season when everything got shut down ?
?
After months of sitting in my house with all my races cancelled I was beyond frustrated. I just wanted to compete in something. I didn’t care what. So I decided to go on the reality show @challengemtv ?
?
REALITY SHOW?
?
The show we compete for money, so I did my homework. Once I was on the show I quickly realized that I needed to work on my endurance to prepare for a final for @challengemtv. On the show I dropped down to 133 pounds. My lightest weight in years. ?
?
Also on the show we stayed in the house 85% of the time due to Covid restrictions while filming. Pretty hard to train for Olympics properly but at least I was competing in something?
?
After the show finished I went straight to the Olympic Training Center in New York for bobsled ?
?
BOBSLED
?
The girls I will compete against were all there and in peak shape training. They had been there for months getting sharp. I wondered if I would even have a chance to be able to crack into the circle with no proper prep. I communicated to the coaches and driver my concern about returning in such a unprepared state. But I said eff it. I’ve faced bigger odds than this so regardless of training or prep I’m going to try to make this team. ?
?
I only had a few weeks to get powerful for Team trials. I started to freak out because I need to be 165 pounds for Bobsled but I was so light from the reality show I didn’t know if I would be ready. ?
(Burgers, pizza, protein shakes... a gurl was eating)?
?
?
Tomorrow is race day and oddly, I’m ready to compete in my first Bobsled race in years. I didn’t gain all the weight in time. I’m 155 pounds and the rest... 10 pounds fury. let’s go.
Thanks to everyone who has texted and dm’d. I haven’t gotten back to everyone yet. Thanks for giving me time to prepare...grateful for all the messages of support
