Read the tea leaves here

The thread title isn’t quite accurate to say “sweating”, it’s more about whether Lane/Glasscock find value in paying a TE the amount of money he will likely command in the market when he may not be the positional fit they prefer.

Lane’s system has moved to having more prototypical inline blocking TEs. So if LSU pays TreDez it may mean they’ll value him as a WR. There are likely to be plenty of WRs in the portal you can get for the kind of money he will likely command. Thus, it becomes about fit and business—and he may find more opportunity elsewhere.

It is what it is. Love the player but he’s been very erratic in terms of his hands and blocking, so we can’t be upset if the new regime doesn’t value him as much as the market.

Why do you think elite players are hardly ever in the portal?

you are probably right about the higher profile players from the major programs

Doesn't mean the other 100+ schools don't have some elite level players that aren't as highly publicized due to the platform they're currently at

Mansoor Delane and AJ Haulsey come to mind

This just isn't true

UK averaged 140 yds per game this season when we averaged 104.

not really a great comparison, they're YPC was essentially the same. UK is just a run-heavy team like you mentioned, and the strategy and style of offense is completely different

they were NOT great at running the ball in 2025, and really haven't been since Rodriguez was RB1 a few years ago

His family has done so well in this state.

The OL transfer list on 24-7 doesn’t look real promising thus far

Sounds like the Tackle from AZ State is one they are interested in that is currently in the portal

But I would not worry about who is in or not in the portal right now. It seems obvious that they are working with agents behind the scene and I'd bet most of the guys we end up signing are NOT currently in the portal.

Any people with insight into Kentucky’s OL? Wonder if they had any good ones.

no, they were pretty bad this past season

many UK people can't believe LSU hired him

Doesn’t seem like a Lane TE
Agree that Spears and Cooley are far from locks to be next year’s Safety’s. Hope they look to add some big pieces.

This is why we shouldn’t get married to these young 5-stars.

If you can find better value in the portal at CB then go get it.

Same with Harlem Berry who’s proving to have shaky ball security.

Another one of my favorite things about this game is that it’s Bauer Sharp’s last

My favorite thing about this game is that it’ll be the last time we have to watch complete SHITT offense

Kelly had several lineman drafted for years while at Notre Dame. Why didn't that translate here?

Most were Catholic whites from the Midwest which is where most OLs and TEs come from. Notre Dame had a religious and academic allure for those position groups.

Kelly wasn’t a factor, it’s what the school is known for pulling in recruiting
