The Baylor kid Thompkins is every bit as good as Weston Davis

So, what’s this kid doing in Buckhead ATL? :dunno:

It doesn't really make sense to limit the power of the NCAA over freedom of movement to nothing just to give it to the member schools instead.
The difference is one’s basically a government oversight body, and the other is entering a business arrangement with a person of legal age.
If you flipped things and it was Duke that didn’t honor its part of the contract with the student-athlete, then people would be going ape shite about how a behemoth school screwed a lowly player.
Buyouts are the key. Just like college coaches. You leave you pay a buyout, or if you get processed then the school pays the agreed upon buyout. There has to be consequences for any business deal—college players included.
Just wait until this happens midseason…kids holding schools hostage and visa versa. Just a matter of time I’m sure. Point of contracts is to honor them or face the consequences/penalty for breaking them.

I agree 100%. His film was bad enough that it was unlikely he had much demand in the portal imo.
CLK/Glasscock probably kept him at a cheap price based on his upside and eligibility to be developed over some time. Probably was also a value oriented hedge to make sure they had the numbers at OT they wanted.

Lane clearly isn’t worried about size
May even prefer the agility / mobility advantages the shorter athletic QBs bring to his system.

Rare for that school to have a premium player unless its the bass fishing team

His dancing will fit the Big 10
re: Longstreet move to Kiffin can't bode well for Riley

Or maybe Riley had a full season to evaluate him and let him walk like he did Malachi Nelson
re: I’ve got to ask and since Lane is in the trenches Oline phase of the portal - Lamar brown-
Posted by burreauxxx on 1/14/26 at 1:09 pm to Vince Lombardi
It’s been said Lamar wanta to play defense / edge
But honestly if he worked at being a technician he looks like a natural OT moreso than defensive player to me.
I’d be in favor of the move

He’s a big mauler type. That’s what the new OL coach likes and recruits
Probably a RT at LSU. UK liked him but he also didn’t make an impact on a team with a bad OLine so we’ll see

Needs to get healthy
He needs quicker feet or needs to break tackles. I’ll take one or the other but if he doesn’t improve on either then he won’t play much

Developmental prospect. Unlikely to contribute right away. Kentucky liked him but he didn't see the field this year on a bad OLine in Lexington

He’s not wrong
Hadn’t been a stellar showing by Glasscock so far but let’s see if any of these new signees turn out to be diamonds in the rough
Wasn’t ideal to have Weis going back and forth with his focus split in Oxford these past couple weeks, in terms of landing a QB

Texas, Texas tech and Ohio State probably over LSU anyway
re: I’d just stop offering any NIL to Freshmen unless it’s a DJ Pickett Type.

It will become no different than the first round of the NFL draft
You pay positions of value, so the big-time HS QBs you think can be studs you will continue to pay good NIL to, like Payton Houston et al.
DLine, OT other high value positions worth chasing the studs, even if it takes some time to develop to regularly see the field. You don't want others getting hooks into these, especially the local kids.
Agree that many lower value positions won't require extending for HS kids which is why you see signing class numbers down

I would not take this as a good sign. Probably not what they thought he was when they recruited him
The Texas WRs were pretty bad this season, they had no weapons that put fear into defenses. Should never happen at a place like Texas, and I think the fact that he and Lockett couldn't see significant PT - even late in the season (they combined for 6 catches) - probably says something.

Many believe we’re not done yet at RB, and good chance it’s a bigger fish that’s not in the portal yet

He's most definitely drummed up a lot of assertion out there today with LSU primarily be attached to NIL deals that will not make it through the clearinghouse.
This is potentially damaging
To be seen what, if any, damage is done, and TBS how this ultimately plays out with the NCAA clearinghouse. Maybe his assertions will prove to be right
