The parents of 19-year-old Texas A&M cheerleader Brianna Aguilera, who was found dead in Austin, Texas during rivalry weekend, have filed a $1 million lawsuit. The Austin Police Department suggested that Aguilera took her own life, though the cheerleader’s mother strongly disagreed...
quote:

Stephanie Rodriguez, the mother of the deceased cheerleader, ripped Austin Police for their investigation.

“Please don’t believe this lazy investigator and Investigation!” Stephanie Rodriguez wrote on Facebook.

Now, the parents of the cheerleader have filed a $1 million lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed against Austin Blacks Rugby Club and the University of Texas’ Latin Economics and Business Association. The seven-figure lawsuit accuses the two school organizations of allegedly serving their daughter alcohol before her death.

The lawsuit alleges that Aguilera was served her first drink around 6 p.m. She was allegedly continued to be served drinks for several hours, before stumbling away. Aguilera ended up at an apartment where she was supposed to spend the night. Ultimately, she fell to her death around midnight.

“We believe even more today this was not a suicide as has been suggested by police. This was either an accident or something much more sinister,” Tony Buzbee, lead attorney with the Buzbee Law Firm, who is representing Aguilera’s parents, said at a press conference.

He added: “If the police department will not do its job, then we will do it for them.”

Try to inform yourself, before you post.

Yes, A&M has a cheer squad, and they have won several national competitions. No, they do not cheer at football games, but they DO cheer at several other sports. Yes, this young lady was one of them.

Man. Some things are...just tragic. Idk about liable. Depends on the facts. So sad regardless.

Mad at Austin police yet sue different organizations? Not sure the logic on that one. It was a tragedy what happened but not everything has to be a conspiracy or lead to a lawsuit.

Why would they think suicide and not accident?

Why not sue for 25 million? 1- million is nothing now.
It will be difficult to win your case.

I bet that 100% this was not started by the parents but by....Tony Buzbee, lead attorney with the Buzbee Law Firm. When bad things happen you can count on some POS lawyer to swoop in and exploit folks who are emotionally fragile. It always leads to a lawsuit for some huge amount where the lawyer gets something like 25-40% of any verdict. You don't hate lawyers enough!

"Officers later recovered Aguilera's lost phone ... and, they discovered a suicide note written days before Brianna's death addressed to specific individuals in her life."

& two minutes prior to jumping she borrowed a phone to call her bf to tell him she was committing suicide

Did they get depositions from the other people sharing her room with her? Did they do a toxicology on her blood for legal medication she may have been using, that when combined with alcohol is a big no-no? Why not sue the Doctors and the pharmaceutical companies? Could you sue the real estate company for not providing a ground floor apartment to an obviously inebriated individual? This is conjecture (Opinion or judgment based on inconclusive or incomplete evidence; guesswork).

On the other hand is providing alcohol to a minor. Fraternities have been found liable in many cases.

I'm of the age when the legal age was 18. Spent many a time kneeling at the porcelain throne or pouring water over the napes of those who imbibed a bit too much.

I hate this. It's a tragedy for her family. As crass as it may sound, she should have some guilt ( The fact of being responsible for the commission of an offense; moral culpability).

I hate that she died.

She called her boyfriend and said she was going to jump. She pushed away her friends who tried to stop her. And she wrote a suicide note weeks earlier. It was a suicide. What a frivolous lawsuit. Pretty girl but obviously too emotional

Their own attorney thinks it may have just been an accident? That's a bold strategy. He must have got some money upfront.

In the 99% chance she killed herself, Texas A&M is at no fault. In the 1% chance it was another student at what seems to be off campus, but even if on campus, Texas A&M is not liable for that either. Texas A&M can't assign a cop to every single student that follows them around 24/7 to ensure that they don't get attacked.

Texas A&M is not part of this at all. The lawsuit has nothing to do with A&M.

The parents are pissed at the Austin police, so they're suing two organizations that are not affiliated with the Austin police. Makes sense.

Buzbee is the same lawyer in the Deshaun Watson lawsuit. I guess he likes high profile cases.
