Last season, SEC teams would fine schools $100,000 if their students storm the field. If it happens a second time, the fine would jump up to $250,000. Any subsequent offenses would cost $500,000. During this year's SEC Spring Meetings, league commissioner Greg Sankey announced that fines for field stormings will be much more...

This won’t do a thing. Who cares about a fine as long as they don’t have to pay it. Storming the field is a loser mentality thing with me but I root for a school that would never storm a field so I guess I don’t get storming the field anyway.

Who the frick does Greg Sankey think he is imposing this? Respond by SEC AD's collaborating and getting him fired. Fight fire with fire by firing Sankey.

It is getting ridiculous. Pretty soon it's going to be almost as hazardous as jumping for beads in a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd of people on hard pavement. Thank goodness the field is grass. Whew!

Forfeiture or you're not really serious about stopping it.

Simple.

Administration announces there will be a mandatory student assembly on the field immediately after the game is over.

SEC cannot fine an institution for conducting a compulsory student assembly.

Reasonable, IMO…storming the field is getting entirely too frequent.

These fines must go directly the Sankey retirement fund

If it's a game against a fellow SEC school, the opponent gets the money.
If it's a non-SEC opponent, some frickin' SEC fund gets the money.

How in the hell does he get away with this?

Sankey continues to be the villain.

Where do these "fines" go to? Do they spread out the fine to the other schools? Maybe the SEC should pay for extra security if they're so worried about it.

The penalties are paid direct to the visiting team.

I'm not sure the drunk college kids who do it care about a fine

Judging by the looks of the student section, no students stay to the end of the game except a couple of groups of fraternity guys.
