Two examples that I've been through. (1) class reunion. Scheduled and set up by the women on an October night. LSU vs Florida. The men complained, huge projector screen set for everyone to watch. (2) Private outdoor party scheduled on LSU vs Alabama 2022. Men complained, large screen TV set up outside for us. I've heard of wedding receptions having TV's set up, but I've never been. So, I call bullshite on this clown

My Dad was a football coach and I scheduled my wedding around his season schedule. Not even Division 1 and he is just on special teams. It was never even a discussion, I just knew I had to schedule on one of their off days if I wanted him to walk me down the aisle! This guy clearly knows nothing about football in the South!

I wonder how many of you had four daughters get married. Well, guess what, they got everything they wanted and I was happy to do it. Only the last one got married in the Fall. Bonus is she got married the evening of November 26, 2022, so I was spared the TAMU fiasco. I had a wonderful time at the reception!

False. I got married in Fall 2001 (yes just after 9-11)and I told my now wife of 22 years at the time. We took out the LSU football schedule that fall and found "Open Date" and that is exactly when we got married. Knowing my entire wedding party would probably not show up. Open Date is the ONLY time a fall wedding should be allowed out of respect of all those you invite.

My brother got married on 1/1, I repeat 1/1. Of all of the crappy older brother stuff he has done to me, that's near the top.

His wife's brother is an AU grad. He set up a TV at the reception and went full game mode.

100% this was venue driven cost and/or availability and then the wife sold him on how great it would be to celebrate New Year's with all your friends and family.

I think there is some truth to CFB GameDay in the south. I think it also depends how well the team is doing. I didn't miss much with the '99 tigers.

Selling gov permission slips (marriage licenses) during football season should be outlawed.

My good friend got married during LSU/Ole Miss in 2019 and it was brutal. Can’t imagine if I had to miss Bama.

This dude couldn't be more wrong. My company decided to have a Christmas party in 1996. The only problem was they had to schedule it the day of the SECCG to have it because everywhere else was booked. The company owner who wanted the party was from the Bronx. Anyway, at the party we had a big screen. There were 200 people at the party and all had folding chairs watching the game. Nobody watched the Band, nobody mingled. It was Bama vs Florida. He starts to get aggravated and tells his management team to start enjoying the party instead of the game. At halftime they all left to go watch the 2nd half. What this writer doesn't understand is that the game isn't on in the background and just check the score every now and then. People are living and dying with each play and have no other focus except the game. Needless to say he scheduled the next years party in July for the 2nd saturday in December. We had a great time at that party.

He must not have been invited to many weddings. Most people, particularly young people who are going to many a year, look at most weddings as a chore. Place the wedding on a CFB weekend, and they are even less enthused.

Maryland grad. I’m certain Saturday’s in the fall are wide open for him

This boy is trolling to get attention. Everybody knows that football Saturday weddings are a bride's way of proving she is in charge. Divorce is coming, hot on the tails of this stupid wedding date.

college football in the South isn't just a game, it's part of the cultural fabric of the entire state. Saturday weddings in the fall in the South is a real issue. This guy just doesn't get it.

It's not "doing a bit". College Football is huge deal to families in the South. This guy is clueless.
