Pass attempts.

He was told how things would be with Monken. And unfortunately with the late removal of that wake forest qb and injuries to jt daniels (on top of deflating clock), those forecasts hadn't come true.

So, the team he left won the Natty, but he is at Alabama, because he is just there to do whatever he can to help the team. Right

Stetson throws deep down field more than any qb i have ever seen at uga. I just rewatched the season highlights and Burton got a lot of deep balls. That even with him having nagging injuries early on.

It had to be money or malcontent. Its not like he got passed up or ignored.

Only reason we stopped passing as we were beating the piss out of our opponents and played young guys.

Where he would get 5-7 passes a game at GA he will probably get 11-12 a game at Bama (if he gets the playing time)

You can say what you want about Bama but they produce NFL wide outs on a yearly basis, I imagine that had something to do with it.

About the same as Murray. Maybe more than Stafford (because the offense stays on the field more converting 3rd downs). But I agree.

It is the offensive system. A combination of turnover at QB in 2020 (Newman, Mathis, Bennett, daniels) and turnover at qb in 2021 to go along with injuries at wr... we wanted to be a 4 wide team and turned into a team running 12 personnel a ton. The pitch to sign Burton was 4 wide and throwing the football. I don't blame monken for scrapping the plan with Stetson and calling a gameplan that wins with our strengths.

If what he left over was targets, then he can go frick himself.

How many targets did it take Pickens to get drafted in the 2nd round?

When you depend on the deep ball as much as Bama does, it will sooner or later catch up with you. Be it personel, injuries, or the other defenses catching up.

Running the ball to open the deep passing game is always going to be the way.

Y’all, it’s not about money or targets. He is a team player and just wants to do what he can to help his team. He said so clearly.

Ultimately, it is about avoiding being 1 dimensional.

If cincy or miss St force us to fling it in order to win, we have to be able to do that. If Florida or Clemson force us to be able to stay disciplined and pound the ball in the run game, we have to be able to do that.

If bama's defense struggles against a balanced approach (good enough to eliminate one or the other but not both), we have to be able to do that.

The beauty of 2021 is that we could do the quick passing game to neutralize a dominant front 4, a run game to slow down a front 4, and take advantage of defensive bubbles in the passing game (often downfield) when one of our athletes is left 1 on one.

I don't think we had the vertical threats all season to "have our way" against zone coverages. Maybe with the Smiths, we can free up some room behind the linebackers.

I can't blame him. He's going to get more targets and has Bryce Young throwing him the ball. He'll put up better numbers at Bama than he will here which makes him more attractive in the draft. I would have done the same thing and most of you would have done the same.

To force us to throw is to over commit their defense to stop the run, that is always (Under Kirby) how we open up our pass game.

Even Nick Saban who facilitated this abomination thinks Burton transferring to alabama is disgusting. But we actually have Georgia fans who applaud it?

Sucks watching the soul of a sport you love so much wither and die in front of your eyes.

I'm not applauding it. I'm just as irritated as you are that it happened. We crossed the Rubicon when giant TV contracts created coaches with million dollar contracts. It was only a matter of time before the players received the same treatment. In a sense, it's we're the ones to blame. We can watch football from noon to past midnight every Saturday and that's what's funding all of this.

Did you see him play the other night? Wow we really missed out on some fun with him being injured.

This is what Saban thinks from the AJC. Burton “might have seen a better opportunity because we’re a little bit more wide open and throw the ball more with a good quarterback,” Alabama coach Nick Saban said of Burton last spring.
