Is the offense going to be as potent as advertised?
We suddenly have no proven fullback, unforeseen depth issues at WR, a smaller offensive line that's still in limbo, and a few questions at tight end.
Thank god we still have a couple of weeks to oil the machine.

I usually agree with 99% of the stuff you post, but I don't quite see it this way at all. First, I don't really see it as an earned prize at all. I see it as a psychological ploy. It's a get your mind right opportunity. Some players have been busting it. Some have been dogging, under-performing. I saw the pool day as a team event to refresh the attitude. If you've been busting it, have a day of rest and get ready to bust it some more. If you've been sucking it up, take a day to get out of the funk and get ready to get in line the next 20 practices.
And if it is an earned thing, why this year? I feel like over the past 3 years, this is the year we would deserve it least. I'm not negative or positive about the state of the program, I'm a realist. And realistically, we are set up for our worst season in 5 years. I think we both don't expect that. I think we could be pretty good this year. But from all evidence I've seen, I feel like this year and next year will be in a sort of rebuilding mode. This year and next year we will have less experience than any team since 2010.

It's a team building exercise, plain and simple. Two a days to end the "camp" portion of things today and then nose to the grindstone from Thursday until kickoff. Guys need a morale boost beyond some watermelon at this halfway point
