He is aware that it’s tackle football that he is on scholarship to play, right?

but if I'm a receiver at Georgia and Coach brings in a receiver out of the portal, I'd be pissed.

why? Like I said before, this is a new world. If you were a receiver and we brought in a new one, wouldn't you "trust Kirby" too? Coaches cannot sit on their hands and wait around anymore, they have to attack the portal, the same way players are using the portal...

The offense was playing with some two tight end sets even after Bowers was hurt and still rotating wide receivers every other play. There are only so many snaps to start with. It's already hard enough for Georiga to keep its receivers happy. It wouldn't have really made a frick before the portal, but now the portal is here and it's reality.

AJC article this morning states that Duke QB Riley Leonard is on standby in case Carson Beck leaves for the NFL. If true, I guess CKS has determined that Stockton isn't a starting QB.

Riley Leonard is really good from what little I've seen of him. Leonard adds running ability. My preference is Carson Beck though.

That's kind of a silly way to look at things. Leonard would be an upperclassman with P5 experience that has a seaosn with 2800 yards and 20 TD (plus 600 yards and 11 TDs rushing) under his belt, while Gunner has barely even gotten any mopup time.

If I got both guys as incoming HS freshmen and had to pick one to be our QB for 4 years I'd take gunner without thinking twice, but in this paritcular scenario it's not crazy to prefer leonard. I'm not saying I even would necessarily, just saying it's not an indictment on gunner as much as it is going with a guy that's actually accomplished something. And with next year's schedule, we need it.

I don't think it is silly given that GS has been with the program for two full years now. I don't have anything against him- hopes he wins the job at some point and does well. But Leonard would not be coming in to ride the bench behind GS and I doubt GS would sit behind him hoping to win the job the next year (his 4th)

All this. Besides, you're only a play away from needed to call Stockton's number in the event of an injury.

Riley Leonard on standby is not what I’d go with. He’s a decent runner but he lacks a lot as a passer. Please come Beck

I expect a bunch of guys who weren't going to see the field in Athens will wind up at Syracuse.

I have nothing against Syracuse. Now I’ll have a tiny reason to watch them next year.

Better that these guys end up there than at a school we play.

Programs that recruit like Georgia are going to be hard pressed to keep veteran depth. Can't be mad. I want those kids to go be stars.

Good news is we get to create space to recruit, play, and develop future contributors to refine the roster. If we continue to bring in top classes and keep the best from those classes, we're still maintaining a talent advantage.

On top of that, every team has guys transferring out. Looks like this staff managing it better than anyone.
