The funny thing is I am talking to my brother in law about the same thing

I drunk purchased 500 rounds for my AR Friday night. I am fully aware that my suburban neighborhood isn't going to be Baghdad tomorrow but I realized all I have is 9 hollow points for my 45.

This got us talking and he wants to go this weekend to pick an AR and I am tempted to get a P229 or P938 because I've been looking for an excuse

I am trying to goad my dad into getting a Benelli M4 because I want to try it out. Sent it to my BIL and I think he was considering it but I told him that I don't think he needs to spring for a $2k shotgun just yet

And dude, that election night would be interesting to say the least.

Remember how in Return of the King there are like 12 different seemingly major conclusions to that movie? And every time you hit one you’re like “that must’ve been it... OH WAIT-“

November is the “oh wait” of 2020

I’ve never been more exhausted with a calendar year in June

It’s amazing to think how Trumps presidency could have gone these past 4 years if he didn’t have an active twitter presence. He is not an eloquent speaker by any stretch but most of what is used against him in the media comes from his twitter account.

It's nuts. What's even crazier is I really still can't comprehend how such a reviled President (vocally at least) is being pitted against a senile old man. It blows my mind.

A few whiskies in last weekend I was going way off the deep end with my buddies. I am not saying I voted or plan to vote democrat but seeing how much they seemingly are blowing this astonishes me. I compared it to Germany. I know it is FAR more nuanced than I am going to get in to it, but Hitler literally had every chance in the world to put down any hope of a quick victory, be it his changing strategy during the Battle of Britain or decision to invade Russia (although that is partly due to his dipshit buddy in Italy). Point being, this is one of those situations that while I may not want the outcome I am still awe struck at the power of people to get in their own way.

I'd say this would make a great movie but I am not even sure anyone would enjoy re-living it

Also, if anything, this all convinces me that THIS will be the year Georgia wins it all. Why? Georgia, IMO, will only win a title if it is somehow contested (allegations of cheating or, say, a global pandemic reducing the field) and also it being overshadowed by, say, race-based rioting and an elevated level of discord in the Nation.

Yep. Cal schools may not even suit up, so you know that will be an asterisk right off the bat.

Yep. In spite of being led to the natty by our black QB. Couldn’t be more Georgia than that.

I’m convinced we win the natty this year because none of us will be allowed in Sanford or the bowl sites to actually watch it happen. It’ll be our players and coaches celebrating in an empty stadium.

But I’m still going to talk a merciless level of shite when it happens

Yeah, I had a box of 9mm hollow points and a box of .410 defense shells and then bought 250 20ga #3 buck shells for the pump. I’m down to 249. Had to kill a snake last week.

I don’t know about you but I know very few people our age on either side of the conservative-liberal spectrum who still claim party allegiance the way older generations do. My parents have voted and will continue to vote republican until the day they die even though they are not Trump supporters. But they’d sooner live in another country before voting democrat or independent, on principle alone which isn’t a sentiment I really see from our generation. I don’t think I’ve voted down a party line since 2010 maybe? I try to read up on what I can and vote some republican, some democrat, and simply don’t weigh in if I don’t feel like I’ve informed myself enough to make a choice in a given race.

I will hear no other opinions, even if it is just the SEC playing. I will sport the 2020 National Champs gear proudly.

I think we have similar mindsets. I admittedly lean right. I was talking the other night and I think my political ideology leans less to a political affiliation than it does pragmatism that is probably borderline narcissistic + nihilistic (I just wanted to use big words for you Durden). A lot of what I support is, frankly, selfish.

Geopolitically I think the US is every bit the baddy as some make it out to be (again, far more nuanced than that but for this conversation I am speaking at a 600k ft view). That said, I am fully in support of the United States maintaining it's spheres of influence and maintaining it's dominance worldwide. I think the methods we have used are often short-sighted, merciless, and at times inefficient but the goal is all the same.

This recent stuff is hard for me to comment on because I am not going to pretend to be an expert. I do believe there is injustice, I do believe that much of this is opportunists taking advantage of a situation. I see the call for change but I do not see a manner in which it is delivered.

Back to your point, I do think a lot of us fall in that bucket. Frankly, I didn't vote for either in the past election. I couldn't bring myself to vote for Trump because I thought he presence was just cringeworthy even if I supported most of his platforms. I didn't vote for Hillary because I disagree with a large number of her policies. For 2020, well, we'll see. Trump is interesting because I think a lot of good has been done but it's always a step forward, step back, step forward, 2 steps back, 3 steps forward, etc... but I don't see our country doing anything better than stagnating with Biden.

What's worse? All my ranting is useless because my knowledge-base is almost extensively devoted to my career & Georgia football. fricked up thing is I would vote for something if I knew it directly benefited Georgia football. Go figure. I didn't like Trump in the primaries because I still blamed him for Herschel leaving. All this means I am just an idiot.

In fairness, though, y'all got all over me as well for saying the death totals aren't as inflated as some people purport them to be. But I digress and I'm just gonna leave that alone. It's not worth people getting all flustered over.

I agree with much of this. We're human and not perfect.

When I think about all the bad things we as a country have done, I keep in mind 2 things-

1) Nature abhors a vacuum. And if we step back from being the world's lone superpower, who will step into that void? Likely China. And do I think they will be better for the world as the lone superpower than the USA? Fraid not.

2) With all the bad things we have done, is there any other system of government under which I would rather live? Absolutely not.
