They should be booted out for the kicking shenanigans from last season.
And canceling twice, causing our Seniors not to get a Senior Day.

Vandy isn't going anywhere because having a private school in the conference prevents SEC from being FOIA'd to death I believe.

College football has been my favorite sport, really my only sport since 1975 when I went to sanford stadium for the first time. The SEC was a cozy 10 team regional conference. Getting to the sugar bowl was a really big deal and the MNC was decided by a convoluted system that sometimes worked but was always fascinating. The players were generally good ol boys who mostly went to class like regular students and worked jobs in the summer.
Now we are talking super-conferences flung across multiple time zones. NIL. Players groomed from grade school to play football and holed up in the football complex year round coming out only for games. 12 team playoff. It is not inconceivable that on a given year two teams would have played each other THREE times before all is said and done.
I realize that times change and nothing stays the same, but at what point is there a tipping point and people start to lose interest? Maybe just people like me who nostalgically remember the 10 team SEC fondly.

It won't be for lack of effort. They
now play LSU the week before us.Not exactly the competitive advantage they were looking for when they moved the DSOR.

People have been losing interest for a while now. It will only get worse, as the younger generations aren't as interested in football.

doesn’t their status as a private school also offer a form of protection for the whole conference on privacy issues? Seems I read something about that a few years back...

Not only that but other …. Notably not southern schools…are rumored to be in talks too.
Say goodbye to the SEC and welcome to the Collegiate Football League. Where players are paid, can transfer freely, the CFL will establish their own rules and if you don’t pay the piper you can stay on the periphery of college football.
Sounds like hyperbole but I can see this all headed in that direction.

Sounds like heading in the exact direction of the premier league, relegation and all. Will have a Northern CFL and a Southern CFL. SEC will be reincarnated as a division within the Southern CFL

I think it means as conference business is concerned, the rest of the conference can hide behind Vandy’s right to privacy in the face of FOIA requests when they’re involved and in the room

And then after a few years of this, groups of students that aren’t good enough for the CFL will form intramural teams and start playing each other and other schools on the weekend….

And has zero to do with athletics or the conference.

False. FOIA must still be granted and the private party redacted.

The letter of the law is rarely the key here... the ability to redact and the fact that they are the ones that get to do it are indeed one form of protection.
Then, you also get stuff like you see with the B1G last offseason: LINK /
(open in incognito and use ublock origin to zap things out of the way if you get paywalled) TL;DR - they used a private portal owned/maintained by the conference to end-around the "communications in possession of the public institution"... it may not hold up in the long run, but for the vast majority of this stuff, they only care about time... there is very little value to FOIA information 6 months to a year later, so it serves as a mechanism to deter FOIA requests if nothing else.

Read where the SEC had actually solicited other schools like Michigan, tOSU, and a handful of other big10 schools.
Call me crazy, but it sure seems like the SEC is looking to nudge out the NCAA and create their own league, their own champion, their own dollars. Whether this is just a football move, I don't know, but this is definitely a move being made by the SEC to strengthen themselves at the expense of the NCAA.

So far that appears to be conjured out of thin air. I've yet to see a single source or any shred of evidence indicating those claims are accurate.
I wouldn't be surprised if the SEC tries to nudge out the NCAA, but tOSU and Michigan would be unlikely targets... if anything, they'd likely try to swallow the better ACC programs and leave the B1G out to dry until they beg to join.

The NCAA is almost obsolete when it comes to CFB.There's zero reason to take over the mundane duties of the NCAA unless you want to go after the March Madness TV revenue and I believe they recently updated their deal with the NCAA
