I have like a 4.2 weighted GPA and had a 36 ACT. I was deferred for early action.

You made a perfect score on the ACT?

I loved my time in Athens but honestly, it sounds like you can do a lot better than Georgia, if you can afford it.

My kid who got a 35 went to an Ivy. It was an expensive ordeal, but great experience

depends what major he is going for. If he goes for engineering, I agree with this sentiment. But if he is going for a top-ranked program like MIS, UGA is an excellent choice. And assuming he is in-state, he won't have to pay a dime. I support Diddly's decision.

This. And that is only half of it.

If he is looking at a career requiring advanced degrees, UGA has no problems placing students at any school in the country. My high school valedictorians have gone to UGA for undergrad and then gone on to finish advanced degrees at Harvard, Rice, and Stanford.

At this point, a good college choice is one that provides ample on-campus networking opportunity in addition to minimal incurred debt upon graduation. Market is so saturated with undergraduate degrees that outside of specialty areas tied into licensure (engineering, medical, accounting, teaching), you can major in just about anything and come out on par or better than most contemporary graduates. Key is to be involved outside of classroom (understanding that going to class and getting a degree is the bare minimum) AND doing so without being buried under decades worth of debt.

UGA most certainly checks those boxes, particularly for in-state students (hence the acceptance rate keeps dipping; I think it was 2017 when it dipped below 50% for the first time)

Live in Russell House if you can. Met a lot of girls that lived on my floor. Looking back Freshman year was the second most fun time I had there besides senior year, but it goes by quick, so enjoy it.

Do you plan on rushing?

Speaking of, if the mood strikes you so not walk just north of downtown to bethel homes. Pretty much any drug you can want is there in abundance but playing hey mister asking for it is a total crapshoot. The place is practically the ghetto. I've done it a few times and had both pleasant and extremely unpleasant experiences. Looking through the lens of hindsight I would recommend just not fooling with it at all.
