Yeah and the mid 50 for ACT scores was 31-33. That’s mostly because they didn’t require test scores. I have like a 4.2 weighted GPA and had a 36 ACT. I was deferred for early action. My friend got a 4.3 weighted and 21 on the ACT but didn’t send his scores in and he got in. Really weird year this year.

Yeah, the whole test score exemption to me is absurd. They’re going to end up moving completely away from them because they are “unfair” to minorities. You wait. Pissed me off that I took the GRE to get into my grad program in 2019, and now they’re letting anyone in. That said, I at least have a metric to point to on that test that put me in the 98th percentile, so I can rub it in on those exempt bastards.

We're local and someone told me they think the local inbound students tend to get pushed to Spring semester as a way to optimize enrollment because the local freshmen have a place to stay. It's a business afterall so I'm sure that's a part of it.

Damn, I had no idea it was getting this tough. I graduated recently and my test scores were nowhere near that. I guess we are turning into a nerd school

They’re moving away from them because they’ve become a useless metric that doesn’t hold the same water they used to; there are better ways to gauge potential success and resilience in a college setting than standardized exam scores.
But, yeah, there’s also a strong correlation between having money for SAT/ACT prep and scoring well which adversely affects some minority and rural students. It’s not the main reason they’re doing away with it but it adds fuel to the fire.

Way ahead of you. I got my acceptance letter in 1995

Agreed, but inflated GPAs aren’t one of them. I don’t know what other metrics they’re using at this point.

Maybe. I never took a single prep course or practice test and still did perfectly fine on every standardized test I ever took. But I understand the argument. Still, you have to weed through applicants one way or another, so how do you do it?
