Has anyone here ever been bitten by a copperhead?

Saw a very large king snake crawling into a hole under my driveway. He’s doing the lords work. I slept great that night

Family just missed getting bitten at The Landings, the beagle stepped in and took two strikes. Survived but killed the copperhead. Still has a thick neck a few years later.

Having worked with the BSA for 20 years, 95%+ snakes I have encountered are non-poisonous. I leave them alone. I instructed the Boy Scouts about how to identify poisonous/non-poisonous. I told them NP or P to leave them alone.

I have a colony of black racers in my yard that scare me every once in a while when I am doing yardwork.

The last copperhead I've seen, believe it or not, was curled up over a branch at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.

Be careful my patrons.

Are you sure that's from the snake bite, or just on account of being an old fat beagle? They tend to get thick necks as they age.

We see copperheads along the creek in the back pasture. I kill them on sight. We have king snakes and rat snakes that hang around the barn and outbuildings and keep the rat and mouse population near zero.
Bad news are the rattlesnakes coming off the mountain in spring and dry summer looking for food and water. I buy mothballs by the case. Poor moths suffer for that.

My sisters ex-boyfriend and his friend were driving down a muddy dirt road in Jones County. Saw a copperhead, drove over it. Backed up, drove over it again. Thought it was dead.

His hand looked like this in the hospital.

Has anyone here ever been bitten by a copperhead?

Got bitten by one as a kid (fell right next to him) - bite was either dry or very little venom, so no harm done. I remember that it hurt some and bled a bit, but really wasn't much worse than getting bitten by a garter snake or similar. As a kid, it was more scary than anything.

I can't post on this forum because of snakes!

Everything. I have posted in this thread gone.

I guess the monitors are scared.

I am about ready to "deep six" this crap website.

I've been here a while. I may not be here in the future.

That isn't very SwampWise.

Your dog is smarter now having gone through the experience. You, on the other hand, got dumber from it somehow.

I've had a few close calls, but never got bit yet. (Knock on wood)

I literally stepped unknowingly on the head of a 5 foot rattlesnake once after coming to a stop....and didn't know it until I felt something slapping the back of my calf and looked down to see it's body twisting and rolling and it's tail slapping at my leg.

Levitation is real, homes.

There's no doubt if i'd stepped a few inches in either direction differently, instead of squarely on his head, I would of been bit. Not slapped with a rattle. (How many people have ever been slapped by a rattle snake with his rattle? A: only 1) It's kind of like that poisonous hotdog deal at Panic in the Streets. There's a reason i'm suppose to survive.

We just got rid of the hedges that were in front of the house while reworking the flower bed, so I know that’s one less place they can pop up this Summer
