I get what you are saying. I am just tired of the narrative that Spiff keeps spewing about fingertips count as drops as a way of condemnation of Beck.

He’s trying to say that the total number of drops includes fingertips and “throws behind the receivers” and THAT total is only 38.

The reality is that if we were to include every ball that hit a receivers hand, we are talking about closer to 70-80 drops rather than the official number 38.

Got it… hard to say but it was a big number of catchable balls

We've seen him catch the ball in the open field and muscled his way in the end zone vs the Gators.

Hell, he scored our only TD vs ND through sheer brute force, too.

Gunner height is my biggest issue with him and knowing when to run. He is neither fast nor quick.

Beck is missing “it”. Timing, quality of pass, communication to receivers, time spent with receivers idk. Something was off and it was not JUST receivers.

However..Bell should have caught that damn ND pass…frick.

Stetson was special. Took a little while for coaches and everyone to realize it but he was. Comparisons to him will be hard to match. Besides height, dude had it all in spades.

Yep.

My point is is that height doesn't matter.

Drew Brees wasn't tall either. But successful qbs that are short and not very mobile are very rare. The good ones have great abilities to find throwing lanes and alter arm angle to overcome the lack of height.

He put a move on that Texas db in the open field. At this point y'all just talking out your arse. In 6 quarters of play, Gunner made one bad throw and didn't see an open TE for a TD. He got all SEC potential.

Stetson was the QB no UGA coach wanted. Let that sink in for a minute. Think about how the careers of Smart, Monken and a bunch of others look if Stetson didn't overcome all of their ambivalence toward him.

This is fan fiction. Kirby Smart was the only major university coach to offer Stetson a walk-on spot. When he finished JUCO, Kirby Smart was the only major university coach to offer him a scholarship. Kirby Smart gave him a chance to win the starting job at UGA, but he made him compete for it.

If Kirby had any ambivalence about Stetson, it may have been related to the same issues that caused Stetson to miss his rookie season in the NFL, or the fact that Stetson could be bull-headed at times about how to run the offense. But they worked through all of that and Stetson started 32 games at UGA. Facts don't support your hypothesis.

He needs another year to make a name for himself nationally.

Could end up in rounds 2-3

This is a shocker. He would have been a day 2 pick. That NIL money is serious. That settles some of my concerns about the secondary. Welp

I'll be interested in watching Beck's games if he starts. I'm not going to automatically pull against him.

Rooting for him, but if he stinks it up playing for Miami against ACC competition, he will drop like a rock in the 2026 draft even further
