From an article by Brandon Adams.

quote:

Honestly, most of the booing fans are probably fine with being ignored – at least for now. It was an instinctive reaction to a lousy stretch of a miserable night Between the Hedges. Their outburst doesn’t mean they love their Dawgs any less, nor do they have any less affection for Smart.
They just want to see him build an offense sturdy enough that it can’t be washed away by the rain.

I don’t give a shite what recruits think about my frustration because we are proving that recruiting only takes you so far if your strategy is shite.

Ain't like we exactly blowing it up in recruiting this year. Seems like most of our big targets are taking a wait n see attitude anyway.

If the scheme isn't there they'll pass on us.

Have no prob with paying fans expressing their displeasure in the only way they can that hopefully the PTB might take notice.

Errybody in the stands are the backbone of the program, their money and support are what makes the program great...

I wish we could push the message that it is more of a shout to the coaches than it is the players.

I don't think that's possible. Even if you put the message on the big screen during the game, players on the field will never appreciate booing from the stands. I always enjoy hearing our rivals' fans boo during games, because I know their team will only tolerate so much of that before they begin to resent the fans and the coaches, and maybe even some of their own team mates.

We really do need to stop. Hand raised. It has just reached a level of frustration that people literally are leaving the stands because they can’t take it. It’s a bad look on us..especially when we win.

We as a collective need not do anything. If folks wanna pay for tickets and go theyre welcome to boo poor performance or leave a miserable game.

It's the politician's creed: "You don't have to fall in love, just fall in line."

Jake made one postgame Saturday. Said something to the effect of “have you ever tried to throw the ball in those conditions? You should go out there and try it. It’s pretty hard.”

I played high school ball with Charlie Ward, Jr. back in the 80s...He said the same thing to me on Facebook the other night while we were discussing the game.

Charlie also said that the wind wasn't helping. I saw a weather report that there were 15-20 MPH winds going in a NNE direction at the stadium....If true, you aren't passing effectively when that's going on.

We likely have quite a few mutual acquaintances. I’m a couple of years older - T’ville.

If the result is circling the wagons and more inspired play then I'm fine with how the players are motivating themselves. Whatever leads to Ws.

Last season I played was 1985. CW was a sophomore, but was getting a lot of playing time. The next season when I had graduated...1986, that was when he established himself as the starter and tore it up in '86 and '87. Central had an offensive line at that time that was bigger and taller than the starting o-line at UGA and at FSU. I still live in Thomasville, so I am sure we do have mutual friends.

What are they supposed to think? They're the ones out there playing and they hear boos, even if they're walking off the field at halftime. Of course they think it's targeted at them. Booing at a 6-1 football team, regardless of how poorly the offense played in the first half, is a bit pathetic.

"regardless of how poorly the offense played in the first half,"

Had an old coach put it this way: "If you're a pampered prima donna, you'd best perform"

I dont understand how you dont understand.

Have you ever been on a team? A brotherhood? Are the coaches part of the teams that you were on? Were they part of your brotherhood?

Of course booing upsets the players. It doesn't make it better trying to explain it.

The fact that they are bothered is a good sign for the locker room. But I would prefer if our recruiters didn't have to deal with these distractions. That only hurts (never helps).

Players know most of the frustration is not with them.

The players are going to back their coaches.

This, basically. Fans have every right to boo, but it’s not like Kirby or Coley are going to hear them and make substantive changes.
