58,000 total global deaths attributed to covid-19 as of today, according to Johns Hopkins tracker. It has been rampaging for three full months (minimum).

58,000 total US deaths attributed to influenza in the last flu season.

Science! Math!

Your latest ridiculous argument is nonsense. In Albany we've had over 20 die at home of suspected COVID19 but the've not been tested because live patients take priority. Nationwide, there aren't enough test kits to test all the people who die outside of hospitals.

Actually there are. But now the local health departments and governors and whatnot are holding them back. Why, I don't know. I agree with you it is bullshite.

This is the same argument people were making with the Swine Flu first and foremost. Now that number looks like it’s going to unfortunately get blown by.

Again, I hope you’re correct on this actual number, but it seems like people keep moving the bar for when it actually needs to be taken seriously.

I’m far more concerned with Kemp’s lack of knowledge on asymptomatic carriers of the virus being able to transmit the disease than anything else.

Cdc estimates for 2020 are gonna likely be lower than that, but classic rig pivot from the swine flu.

1: If 2019-20 flu deaths are lower it's a fair assumption it's because covid killed them before the flu did, or flu killed them while they were covid positive. We'll never know. You know that. That's why I'm using last season's flu death numbers.

2: When have I said a damn thing about swine flu? Go find anywhere in this million page thread where I said anything about swine flu. Do it. Find it. Quote it. Call me out.

3: The obelisk is lying to you. I know you can't see it right now. I know you are afraid. It's ok. Many people are afraid.

41% of Georgia is rural. I’m sure Kemp was hesitant to lock half the state down when the very stats you keep crowing about shows rural areas largely slightly affected. Now maybe he could have locked Atlanta down sooner but the mayor could have done it way ahead of Kemp if there was so much concern.

This. Mayors and local leadership can institute such orders when they think it is necessary. If Kemp issues such an order to soon many businesses will close and a lot of jobs lost that might not have been necessary. If he waits to long more people can get sick. It's a fine line and really easy for people to sit on the sidelines and criticize.

By the way, I'm so fricking sick of this shite. The mud slinging, finger pointing just needs to end and everyone needs to work together to find solutions. If we, as a country, can't come together in a time like this, we really are truly fricked.

Last season estimate was 34k, so no clue what you are using.

So what are they tested for?You do know there's a test for the flu, correct?

A coroner can't say somebody died of influenza or pneumonia went they didn't.

All the victims that died in Kirkland that died pre test were eventually tested and confirmed to have it.

Are you talking about people who died before tests came out?

Wow this is getting frickier by the minute. The CDC has edited what was already posted 40 pages ago with the 58000 number. But they haven't wiped out this page yet, the previous year's number of 79,000. LINK

I have to start screen shotting this shite for truth before it all gets fricky.

There's a certain percentage of the population for whom no amount of facts can alter their views. They must instead change the facts. Trump's pathological lies are simply "alternate facts," to use Kelly Ann Conway's classic phrase.

Think most people were upset about the term China virus if I recall correctly.

People that were upset about restricting travel from a China were dumb, but I did not see that many people complaining about it. Could be wrong though. I do remember the right saying this was fear mongering by the left though. If you look at people that lean towards the middle or left (even in this thread) you can see most of those people taking it seriously vs a lot of people who lean right here were saying differently.

People who can’t accept that their opinion could be or is wrong often accuse others of drinking Kool Aid. A good example is anti Trump fricktards. No matter what the man does they complain. One day he will come out and say he loves to breathe and all of you half wits will hold your breath till you die just to spite him.

I am not going to get back in the middle of this but I am pretty sure back in January the left was not taking this seriously, either.

The US coronavirus travel ban could backfire. Here's how

Trump Declares Coronavirus A Public Health Emergency And Restricts Travel From China

Says Sen. Chuck Schumer deleted a Feb. 5 tweet criticizing President Donald Trump’s decision to ban some forms of travel to and from China.

Trump's expanded travel ban could tank the economy
Who was it saying conservatives were not concerned with lives...but only with stocks?

Add to these, what do y'all think about Cuomo insisting on keeping NY schools open when most of the country was closing them? I mean, looking back on it since NY is now the epicenter of Corona in the US.

NEW YORK — As schools across the U.S. shut down in hopes of helping to fight the coronavirus, New York City officials are arguing just the opposite: They’re keeping the nation’s largest school system open to ensure that health and emergency workers aren’t tied down with kids at home.

Or DeBlasio downplaying the Coronavirus...you know the way many people were criticizing Trump for?

Examples below:

“There is no reason not to take the subway, not to take the bus, not to go out to your favorite restaurant, and certainly not to miss the parade next Sunday.” Barbot said during a Feb. 2 press conference addressing the pandemic.

Barbot argued in a local TV interview on Feb. 7 that the city is “telling New Yorkers, go about your lives, take the subway, go out, enjoy life.” She did say that citizens must practice good hygiene, but suggested the biggest threat comes from family members and not large packs of people.

“We want to encourage” New Yorkers going out, the mayor said during a Feb. 10 MSNBC broadcast.

“If you’re under 50 & you’re healthy, which is most NYers, there’s very little threat here. This disease, even if you were to get it, basically acts like a common cold or flu. And transmission is not that easy,” de Blasio said at the time.

And it goes on and on. Have mistakes on the Federal level been made? Absolutely. But when you have mayors and Governors encouraging their people to go to the theater and attend parades....well, does it really surprise you that NY is the epicenter?

Add to that that Trump was roundly criticized for suggesting hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine might be a help, going so far as threatening "administration action" against doctors using those to combat the Coronavirus by the Governor of Michigan....now she is asking for some of those drugs. Irony.

It's simply useless and dumb to point fingers at the left or the right. Fact is both sides have made mistakes and done things that has allowed the virus to spread.

Hopefully I can now stay out of this thread again.
