But...We are going to take a step back next year at the RB position because no one can replace Gurley. Or that's what some on here would have you believe. Never mind that Chubb did replace Gurley last year. Gurley was special, but I think Chubb is just as special.

Dudes working out isn't usually the first thing that pops into my head when I think spring break videos, but this one got my pants tight nonetheless

I think most people realize that when you take into account

a)Sony being hurt during the year
b)Keith being hurt basically all year
c)Gurley being out about 6 games

that we'll be even or better at the position top to bottom in '15.

Simply talking about one on one though, I mean I love the dude but chubb simply isn't gurley.

Chubb had two 200 yard games his true freshman year. I'm not taking anything away from Gurley but Chubb has everything Gurley has plus a little speed on the top end. The only thing he lacks that Gurley had is the attitude problem on the field. Gurley seemed to HATE the other team and showed it every carry.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that by the time he graduates Chubb will have eclipsed Gurley and be universally recognized as the better back.

However, what will the benchmark be? Overall production? YPC? CPG? Sheer manliness?

Did someone say sheer manliness?

Gurley could find the crease better than anyone I've ever seen. Call it vision or whatever but he had a knack for getting downfield in a hurry and not getting tripped up or running straight into a pile.

I loved watching him run straight into a pile and pop out the other side like he was playing red rover with first graders.

Gurley could absolutely fly, man. He definitely had top end speed. His touchdown run against Clemson in 2013 (or the long one in 2014 for that matter) proved that.

Yeah he did, and that's why he was so fun to watch.

Imma agree mostly with WG but...we'll never know for sure. TGII was well on his way to 2000yds in the offense we had to run last year. His avg was over 150/gm in the 6 games he played & that included only 76yds on 6 carries vs Troy.....

TGII never got a chance for a full year in the RB heavy system we had to run last year with Hutson, his 1st 2 years were behind the most prolific passer in SEC history. Chubb will tear it up again this year since it'll basically be the same as last year...

No reason to think TGII wouldn't have put up astronomical numbers last year in that offense if he'd played 13 games...

Chubb will be the best RB in college ball this year just like he was last year when TGII was out. But TGII was a special one-of-a-kind talent also...

Great problem to have, arguing which was better...

He was also a Junior. Gurley's the man I jsut don't think Chubb is a step down at all. He looks, at worst, just as effective. Chubb would've hit 2000 yards last season had he started 13 games as well. Maybe even without starting if he hadn't broken his hand and needed screws right before the USC game.

They're just different backs, so it's never going to be a reasonable comparison. Especially since Gurley missed quite a few games with injuries.

Gurley has better vision and agility. He'll juke you and slip by you and maybe toss in a stiff-arm.

Chubb seems a bit tougher/more durable and harder to bring down. He'll lower his head, hit you, knock you back, and then wrench his legs out of your grip and just continue running.

Other than that, both have incredible speed, incredible burst, great hands, don't fumble much at all, and can break off huge explosive runs at any moment and nobody catch them.

It's like trying to compare DeMarco Murray to Marshawn Lynch. Except Chubb appears to have no ego and isn't going to grab his crotch when he scores.

Chubb will likely end up with better stats at UGA than Gurley has simply because of durability and likely playing more games. So that's going to also make it impossible to really compare them.

Both are special though. It's silly to try and compare them because it's impossible to know what Gurley really could have been due to the injuries.

Gurley was quite simply a generational back in college. Ran hard, ran angry and was just better than everyone else on the field.

Chubb could get there...so far, he seems to be missing the anger but what is really special about him is his ability to change direction in traffic, and even while someone is trying to tackle him, find daylight and score. He also seems to just refuse to go down on first, or even second contact.
