Jake Scott must be on that mountain. Scott was the best ball hawking safety we've ever had and one hell of a return man. Jake only played two years and he still shares the interception record. Scott was better than Terry Hoage.

Thought he only played 2 years I know he was pissed at VD for not
Taking the Orange Bowl bid amongst other things and left for Canada after his Jr year.
Also, pretty sure HW was a 3 time AA

The way Jarvis Jones absolutely TOOK OVER the 2011 and 2012 WLOCP games will always endear him to me.
2011- 5 tackles, 4 TFL, 4 sacks, 4 forced fumbles
2012- 13 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 3 sacks, 4 QB hurries, 2 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries
I really don't recall ever seeing a defensive performance THAT dominant. Florida just had no answer for him those 2 years.

Scott Woerner should definitely get an honorable mention....
13 Career INTS tied for 5th......huge 98 yard (3rd longest in UGA History) INT return against Clemson in '80. Woerner essentially beat Clemson by himself that day with that INT and a huge punt return for a TD. Sealed the Natty in '80 with a late pick in the Sugar Bowl against ND.
Second behind Scott in INT Return yardage.....315 yards to 303 yards.
And look at his contributions on Special Teams as well. I know this was really supposed to defense only but he has over 1900 yards in returns which puts him at #2 all time.
#1 PR yards in a season @ 488 yards.
#2 in Total PR yardage in career @ 1,077 yards.
#4 in KR yardage for a season.

Marcus Stroud is another great not being brought up.
honestly, he was a pain in the butt but Odell Thurman was a monster as well.

As the one who started this god awful thread, and after receiving some good historical perspective and even an invitation to fight night at the Winder Waffle House, I'm deciding that the fourth and final Dawg on the Mount Rushmore of Dawg defense is...
...either Jake Scott (2 SEC titles) or Jarvis Jones (2 SEC East titles and two Georgia Dome appearances)

Cute little one word replies with a cute little emoji aren't gay, but apparently I am. Good to know how things work around here.
...There have to be rules for any championship fight like the one that me and k9 are planning. Venue is important, so feel free to frick off and go post cute little emojis and cute little one word replies somewhere else while this contract gets ironed out

That's a name I never thought I'd see on this board. My first Georgia game was Oregon State 1971. I was 12. I still have the program. There were 2 Georgia records set that day that still stand.
Thanks for the memories Cowboy. We old.

I just don't think you can put jarvis on here. I still take umbrage with the fact you say
quote:
Pollack and Smith helped break long title droughts and years of frustration, while we all know what Hoage's teams accomplished. This would disqualify someone like Champ Bailey
but overlook that jarvis never won anythign either. "east division champs" is...I mean it's nice but you don't really hang a banner for that.

Hard to put him in the top 4... but Reggie Ball always made our defense look unbeatable once a year... should at least get a mention here
