Mount Rushmore of Georgia defensive players

I just did a google image search of Mt Rushmore and their are 4 people on there, in case anybody was wondering.
Who do you ?? Here's who I have...
1) David Pollack - younger Dawg fans might not understand and might just see Pollack as a TV clown. But David Pollack was the muthertrucking MAN!!! He also was a transcendent player in terms of the energy and confidence that he gave the whole program. David Pollack was largely responsible for breaking the god awful SEC championship drought and the SECCG drought. I'd always get ticked off hearing all of the white boy coding like "great motor" and "never takes a play off." Screw all that, David Pollack was an athlete and had one of the quickest first steps and played with the best leverage of any pass rusher in NCAA history. Put it this way -- a few years ago the SEC put out its "All 75th Anniversary Team." The two defensive ends: Reggie White on one side and David Pollack on the other. Pollack didn't just get to the quarterback, he took the dam ball buddy!!! Imo his greatest play was the one that never counted. Who remembers when he took the ball from the Florida quarterback in 2002 and then handed it to Sean Jones and then Sean Jones ran 70 yards for a touchdown. For some ungodly reason the refs called it a lateral, however.
2) Terry Hoage - the main guy on the most historical defenses during the most historical run in Georgia history. So bad-arse that he ultimately became a Heisman candidate.
3) Roquan Smith - currently being commissioned. Won the Butkus by the largest margin in 10 years. Brought us back to the promise land after 12 years of heartbreak and Bama envy. Like Pollack and Hoage, also an unbelievable team leader.
4) I'm drawing a blank here. If we operationalized the criteria for being on the Georgia defense Mt. Rushmore, I'd say that a great deal of team success would have to come with the individual success. Pollack and Smith helped break long title droughts and years of frustration, while we all know what Hoage's teams accomplished. This would disqualify someone like Champ Bailey. It was no fault of his own, but the only thing that Georgia ever one during the Champ Bailey years was the 1997 Florida game. That really was the only real highlight. Being a Dawg fan in the 90s blew rock hard garbage.
...Maybe somebody from the 40s or 60s. Baxter Milledge or Talmadge Van Buren or Dolph Schuler or Buzz "Happy Feet" Busby or some shite

Don't think you can penalize Champ for what the team did when he was there but other defensive greats would
include Jake Scott,Bill Stanfill,Knox Culpepper,Rennie
Curren and Marion Campbell

Jarvis Jones would make a strong case. His NFL career has been less than spectacular but he was an absolute force during his time at UGA.

Ben Zambiasi.
Probably not quite in the others class, but he was a good one.

Jarvis Jones would fit the criteria and would be a good one. Broke our 6 year SEC East/Georgia Dome drought and Georgia won the East twice. Had a sack/fumble in one of the 5 most memorable games in Georgia history (2012 SECCG) even though we lost and ultimately set all-time sack record.

didn't you disqualify champ for the team not winning anything?

I like how after years of unsuccessfully trying, and despite all of the anecdotal evidence in the world letting you know that it's impossible, some people still try to be message board tough guys. It can't be done, it's logistically and physically impossible to be a message board tough guy, with virtual muscles and virtual bench press records and virtual testosterone.
But keep trying! Maybe one day somebody somewhere will think that you're a bad arse

Depends on how you'd value East titles. Personally I remember that it felt damn good to finally get back to the SECCG in '11 and then again in '12. It'd been a minute.

Here's your defensive national award winners at the University of Georgia
Chuck Bednarik - David Pollack 2004
Ted Hendricks - David Pollack 2003-2004
Lombardi - David Pollack - 2004
Bronco Nagurski - Champ Bailey - 1998
Outland - Bill Stanfill-1968
Lott - David Pollack- 2004
Butkus - Roquan Smith -2017
Paul Hornung - Brandon Boykin -2011
Jake Scott - Super Bowl Vll MVP
I had to throw my childhood hero in there , he still holds the Georgia interception record.
Only played two years.
There's no doubt who the greatest defensive player in Georgia history is. He's also the only defensive three-time All-American
