I guarantee y'all one thing- Kirby has been planning for this day for 2 years.

Yup. I believe most thought/said “getting the band back together”. I do believe the program has a solid AF foundation. Grunt and Punt is not what UGA is or will be. Our roster is equipped to spread, throw, and be balanced. Bobo is also a great recruiter. I’m starting to like it more and more. Research his production since 06. It’s a helluva drug.

One thing about this Bobo hire, everything is in place for him to be a successful OC in Athens ... if this offense takes a step back in '23, to an extent it prevents the Dawgs from making or advancing in the CFP, I don't see Kirby letting his friendship with Bobo interfere with him making a change.

While I am not overly excited with the hire (wasn't with Searles and that turned out fine so far) I think I am going to take the wait and see what happens approach with his one.

Just a quick look at SEC OC's, other than Petrino, Bobo could very well be the best one.

Every offensive coach (except McGee) we have worked at UGA when Bobo was OC before…this was the best hire for us.

Serious question about Bobo. He use to be fantastic, but with his time at SC and Auburn can yall explain why you are so comfortable with him being the OC? Cuz I don't see it yet. Would love for him to prove me wrong though.

You think he got dumber with more experience?

2014: 41ppg
2022: 41ppg

His last 2 seasons at UGA have to keep you optimistic.

He didn't call plays last year? And you didn't answer the question just a smart remark because you don't know.

He designed plays each week.
You realize that they call them Monday through Thursday. Rep them.
And then the OC throws them out on Saturday.

You are correct that he wasnt the OC.

I don't follow Auburn or south Carolina.
I know Auburn was Brian Harsins offense. But that's the extent of what I know about a team that I don't follow.

I also know that the talent in 2014 and 2022 at UGA was better than 2021 Auburn and 2020 South carolina.

I seem to recall our offense was really humming with Bobo. Alot of folks were really upset he left. Alot said if he wouldn’t have left, Richt probably would have coached longer. History would have been altered and never happened. He has tons of talent and will be ok.

I’m liking this more and more as I think about it.

You’ve got Kirby, Muschamp and Bobo. All good friends by everyone’s account and all UGA guys. Kirby and Bobo love UGA and Athen. Muschamp talked a bunch of shite in the past but I’m coming around on him. Bobo led some prolific offenses and Muschamp is obviously an excellent DC. They’re all great recruiters.

These two guys have been down the HC road and it didn’t work work out. They’re well paid. How awesome would it be to have a staff together that might actually stay a long time because they like each other and like where they’re at.

I’m telling you…this was the plan all along. I can see CKS sitting around the camp fire a few years ago saying “guys, if I can pull this off I’m bringing you both back to Athens and we’ll make a boatload of money, raise hell and win some championships”

Serious answer.

How many of the offensive guys Bobo coached in Columbia and Auburn would even crack the two deep in Athens? Tank Bigsby and who else? ZERO of them would start here IMO.

this had been brought up before. I think some reluctance to Bobo is that he ran a pro style offense. Other than that some of his play calling in big games. I recall he called a good game in the 2012 SECCG. A lot of his Florida games not so much. Hopefully he will keep the same scheme and learned a lot from Monken. I didn't watch a lot of his time at Colorado St but that tenure did not go well. Hopefully this stint goes well and he can move on to a head coach position that is a better fit. I would think he would do well somewhere like Georgia Southern or mid major southern school since he has a lot of recruiting ties in the south.
