If they cant get workers, they cant open.

Daycare was one of the many protected/essential industries.

Their website published this today... I don't like their wording toward the end.

quote:

Due to the recent development with the governor’s decision to start phase one, we would like to inform you of our plan for reopening. After meeting, we have decided to wait a little longer to resume operations. Our babies, employees, and families’ health are our number one priority and we will need time to revise our procedures to reopen during this pandemic. There is a lot that is still unknown about Covid-19, therefore we cannot in good conscience reopen and put the welfare of our families and employees at risk. In the next couple of weeks, we will be contacting you to find out your need for services so we can better help serve our families. We want more than anything for things to go back to normal and see all of our babies, but we are cautiously reluctant for this decision to be rushed. Stay safe.

I have a Seabear gift card hanging on my fridge that mocks me every day we are shut down.

Do you know about their secret cocktail? I'm not a cocktail drinker, but this one is damn good. It's off-menu... you have to ask for it by secret name...

It's called....

the Seabear.

It seems that daycare is more concerned about the health of their families and employees than for your family and children. Can you really trust your children with them?

We haven't even hit the peak yet and Kemp won't even follow Trump's guidelines. Hell we don't even have enough tests, really don't understand this move

We do have "enough" tests but you can blame Kemp for not utilizing more if you like, it would be a fair criticism.

What is the peak in your opinion and how will you know when we are past it?

We will know 2 weeks later.

There is no such thing as real time data for policy decisionmaking despite the desire to pretend as such.

The solution to moving forward is very simple.

Pretend like you have coronavirus and go about your day with cautious effort to spread it to no one. If the population followed this methodology, we would be much closer to South Korea than Europe. Even with a semi-open economy.

How do you expect people to social distance when working places like restaurants and barbershops?

I haven't heard specifics on georgia. I read that Florida is reducing seating capacity by 80% in restaurants to allow for distancing between tables.

The main thing is to wear masks/face cover when not eating and to find new reasons to wash hands over and over (touched face).

Anyone serving food should be masked.

Again. Act like you have coronavirus when you are out and direct your movements with the goal of not spreading it.

Is the bowling alley thing real?

But I agree with meansonny about acting like you have the virus to best avoid contact. It would be significantly easier to open the economy if there weren’t so many morons who break the rules or act like it doesn’t apply to them.

I don’t envy the governors though. It’s such a difficult thing to balance.

Then why open? With all the people that will stay home and seating capacities reduced, they’ll be back to paying their overhead for staff and power and making no money. THIS will kill them.

This is another thing I thought of, how many people will actually be willing to go out? Will restaurants even be able to make enough to stay open? And there aren't any movies out right now since everything got moved back what will the theaters be playing?

All the movies that were in theaters when this shutdown happened are streaming now so who's going to risk seeing a movie in a theater that can see at home?

This is the beginning.

We will get a spike, but so long as the healthcare system is not overwhelmed, then it is the right call.

We manage the spike, open up further.

So long as no rationing of medical treatment exists (beds, ventilators, medicine) then we are trending the right way.

I doubt any restaurant will make a profit at 20% capacity.

Ever heard of valentine's day?

Instead of 4 tops and 6 tops, you get couples after couples after couples.

All it means is that you take the fire department occupancy limit and divide it by 5.
As I said, this is just the beginning.
