1- I think there's a very good chance that we are not gonna fully appreciate just how valuable Stet was until some time passes.

2-5 years from now we there's gonna be a very good discussion about who was more impactful on who's legacy. Kirby's on Stetson's or Stetson's on Kirby's.

3-As good as these last 2 seasons have been, I have this funny feeling that this program has not yet peaked but is still building a foundation toward a better model where games like Oregon and TCU are the rule and not the exception.

Stet said he joked about retiring after the game he called Monday.

I’ll always remember a quote from Roquan leading up to the Rose Bowl. He said up till then the one QB that gave them the most trouble all season was Stet on the scout team. Pretty good complement if you ask me.

Which is why my Gunner Stockton hype has been slowly intensifying all season.

One thing I can share as an "outsider" why I think UGA will be a powerhouse for many many years regardless of who is at QB is Kirby Smart. As an LSU fan since 2000 LSU has played in 4 National Title games and won 3. We never felt as I do about UGA that this is the beginning of a dynasty. WHY??

Nick Saban - Yes he woke a sleeping giant but every year we had "When is he going to the NFL" stress fest. Eventually happened then he came back to our rival to twist the knife

Les Miles- He was on borrowed time. He was goofy and cute and that works if you are winning. LSU has talent and Les was playing on house money. We knew it was going to end one day with him. By the end he was not liked by many.

Orgeron - Like Kirby he was "one of us". No one would hire him away (No one wanted him) but again he caught lightning in a bottle one year and he was only as good as his coordinators. Then after winning with a generational team and QB he decided chasing skirt was more important, lost what little focus he had and frankly he was a terrible coach and he destroyed the program with terrible hires and poor decisions. Aranda and others won in 2019. They could have piped in Cartoons in his headset and that 2019 would have did what it did. I hated that hire from day one, after 2019 said OK I was wrong then he proved us all right and drove a once proud program to the first losing season in almost 20 years.

Kelly - TBD but even him we are on borrowed time. He has zero ties to Louisiana or LSU. He came here to win a NC. If he wins one the clock will be ticking when he retires

With Kirby you have none of that. First off he is a great coach and recruiter. You have a coach who bleeds black and gold. Athens is home for him. He has NO desire to go the NFL or ever leave UGA. That is invaluable. You never have to worry after each season "Is he leaving" ??? Only time he leaves is he gets fired (not likely) or in 20 years he finally decides to retire.

UGA Has this very rare coaching situation. Once of the best coaches in the nation who is at his dream job. Has no aspirations for anything else than where he is at.

I truly believe UGA's best years are ahead of them. Win it every year no. But 10+ win seasons will be the norm with several more NC runs.

And yes, I am jealous as hell about it ;-)

We went from asking if we were going to finally begin utilizing the tight ends each season as a preseason joke, to making it a Cornerstone of the offense. Monken's impact absolutely cannot be overstated

Stetson has been amazing but I don't think he becomes this guy without Kirby. I just think Kirby knows how to push the right buttons to get the best out of players.

Stetson probably never becomes this version of himself without constantly having to battle for playing time, etc.

I disagree.

Kirby is responsible for the team culture.

But telling a kid he isn't good enough with obvious attempts to keep pushing him down is not a coaching strategy.

Stetson is just different.
There will only be 1 Stetson in 100 years.

Kirby is the greatest. But he isn't responsible for Stet. #13 did that on his own (with the help of Monkens playcalling).

saw that too, but was willing to forgive it due to how long LSU must feel now that their 2019 couldn't become a dynasty

In fairness, the CFP trophy is black and gold, so he's not entirely wrong.

I think we will have Kirby for 7-9 more years and then he will retire while there are still good years of health ahead of him to enjoy with his family. The man works tirelessly which is why he’s so damned good at what he does but he has a longing to be with his family and has expressed such publicly on a few occasions.

But even then, we will see another title or two in that span and Georgia will be a fixture in the expanded playoff for an indefinite period. I’m not so sure we haven’t seen our future HC come through here, either, under his tutelage. Guys like Nolan and Stet have the brains, the drive, and the charisma to be head coaches if they choose that path in life
