see Jake Scott's two years at UGA when I was a freshman and sophomore. Scott was my favorite before Gurley and Chubb.

I see em hanging out at some of the neighborhood pubs when he's in Town.

Jake had a reputation for snaking guy's dates out of bars back then. He was a great ball hawk and reckless punt returner. He loved to field punts on the dead run so he would stand far back. I don't think he ever let a punt hit the ground.

Ray Goff played for Moultrie, didn't he?

Indeed he did. As a matter of fact, he was statistically the best passer in Ga. high school football in 1972. Dooley, in true Dooley fashion, turned him into a Veer QB that hardly ever passed.

My dad graduated from AHS in 1965. He grew up over in Forest Heights.

Actually, grandad had a farm over there and the bypass took half of it and Forest Heights grew up around them.

He told me that Jake used to get in pick up games with them when he was young and he was a little kid. Nothing special. Then he went away for a few year and when he came back he was a beast. Said they would hang out at the Varsity and Jake would come by pulling wheelies on his motorcycle up and down th street.

I’m still shocked no one ever offered Goff or Donnan another coaching job. Wonder why?

Donnan and Goff had great agents and knew going into the job it would probably be the last time they every had to do a day of work in their life. I think Donnan could have coached again but he figured he would retire early. I think Goff had no interest at all in getting back into coaching. My mom met him down in Buckhead after he got fired and was doing some real estate investing. Goff turned out to be a pretty good businessman.
