they are one of the best teams we face up to this point. Auburn, Arkansas, Tech....in no particular order

My main concern is can we stop them on the perimeter? Florida gashed us with those outside runs. We made some adjustments personel wise such as Floyd moving to the star position vs. auburn and that seemed to make a difference.

I don't think we'll have a problem moving the ball. Defense is my main concern.

then don't

no, they aren't. Them being ranked 16th by cruising through a weak conference doesn't make them awesome.

many of florida's long runs came on plays where our OLBs tried to slide inside. They were much more sound against the same type of running plays against auburn, and played very well against an option based attack on saturday.

true, it always is in this game. Last year we held them to 3 TDs in regulation, 2012 they scored 1 TD, 2011 they scored 2 TDs. I realize this is a better team they've had recently, but it's not like they've been killing us recently either.

I'll give you that, but our schedule is a joke, so this isn't saying much.

Tech is just a weird team to figure.

They come out playing their best and we act like we're in Jacksonville or Sandstorm is playing and we could be in real trouble.

We come out focused and on our game we could win by 20+

Hope it's the latter.

After Sat we'll have played 4 currentl ranked teams maybe 5 depending on what Arkansa does Sat.

We also faced 2 OOC opponents that are ranked.

No ther SEC team can make the same claim.

So the 4 best teams tech has faced:

barely .500 miami at home- 11 point win
moderately good duke at home- 6 point loss
barely .500 nc on the road- 5 point loss
good clemson at home- 22 point win aided by 2 pick 6s

Color me unimpressed. We will be by FAR the best team they've played this season, and they have yet to have a marquee road win.

Another lil tidbit...

quote:

Courtesy goldsheet.com, last seven years of betting lines:

2007 Georgia was a 3-point fav. UGA won by 14.
2008 Georgia was an 8 point fav. TECH won by 3.
2009 Georgia Tech was an 8 point fav. UGA won by 6.
2010 Georgia was a 13-point fav. UGA won by 8.
2011 Georgia was a 5-point fav. UGA won by 14.
2012 Georgia was a 13.5 point fav. UGA won by 32.
2013 Georgia was a 3-point fav. UGA won by 7 (OT)

UGA 5-2 vs. line for last seven years.

You were just as unimpressed by Carolina and Florida.

You're probably right this time though, I think we beat Tech soundly this year.

Why wouldn't I have been going into those games, based on the black and white stats that were available at the time?

I didn't make a prediction about the game so it's impossible for me to be right or wrong. I was simply pointing out some facts about their schedule. They really haven't faced many GOOD teams, and they have no truly good road wins.

You had every reason not to be, those two were and still are compete garbage. They also happen to play their best bal against Georgia every year.

So reading isn't my strong suit. I still think we beat Tech like they stole something.

Miami is a vastly different team at home than on the road. I don't know what it is, but they suck on the road.

If I were Richt, I'd show footage of the last time we lost to Tech and how they destroyed the hedges. Then I'd tell my players to protect their fricking house. That shite still pisses me off.

Was our best game, imo

Avg 370yds vs Va Tech, Miami, and Clemson (teams that get it)

Gonna have to get over 400yds vs UGA and the only way I can see it - some scenario w/ JT or Byerly throwing completions on 1st down to mix it up

Isaiah Johnson & PJ Davis gonna have to treat UGA's running backs like they're a triple option and bust the line of scrimmage regardless the situation (assignment football)
