I am all for it. Nice slate of OOC games coming up

quote:

An every year game between two programs that reached the College Football Playoff last season isn’t likely an option, Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity said Wednesday, but the schools could play either home and home or in a neutral site game as early as 2021. “I do think down the road you will see Clemson and Georgia playing each other,” McGarity said. “I’m not sure about the frequency of it, but I do think you’ll see us play each other in the not too distant future.” Notre Dame plays a return game in Athens in 2019 and Georgia opens the 2020 season against Virginia in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Georgia has a home-and-home series scheduled with UCLA in 2025 and 2026.

Bring it. More Power Five and less Austin Peay.

Our OOC schedule really sucks past 2020...either get Clemson back every so often or do more of the kickoff
classic games...would love to see em participate in that Texas kickoff game.

Always a great way to start the season playing Clemson.

I wish we would do a home and home with other schools like Boston College, Rutgers, Pitt, Stanford, Oregon State or Oregon, Colorado State, Utah, or Miami. Texas would be a great one since the sec apparently does not want to let us play A and M.

I agree with that, but I don't think it should be Clemson.

Dabo knows what he's doing. If we get it on the schedule that we will play each other three out of five years or whatever it turns out to be, he will 100% use it as a recruiting pitch for GA guys.

Not really, and we aren't going to beat them all the time.

I had a great time in Clemson last time despite the loss. Gurley was unstoppable.

That's a cool town and atmosphere they have going up there.

Prior to that in 2003 was even better

I like that game as a fan, but they gain a lot more from it than UGA does, competitively.

I mean we have UVA in a kickoff game and we play a H&H with UCLA. I bet they add another team along with Clemson and that wouldn’t be that bad...

I'm OK with just beating Clemson every year in the playoffs.

I'd rather make things easy as possible on ourselves. We have 8 sec games, tech, and 3 others of our choosing. Do well enough there and play bama in the SECCG, where if we win we're basically a lock for the playoffs.

I think the kickoff classics with Virgnina and UNC are PERFECT, they are "name" schools from a notable conference, that provide enough of a challenge that we can't just show up with the 3rd string and win but shouldn't have any trouble winnign either.

I understand the sentiment and agree to a point (it's how UF built their modern legacy)

BUT - with the strength of our schedules year in and year out, coupled with the reputation we are building; I think we can afford two "name brand" OOC games most years, if not every year (GA Tech being one) - that is, I think we will wind up being a team that is given more 1 and 2 loss respect than most (as Bama, LSU & UF have been)

moar Notre Dame and Clemson type games please...

Greg McGarity isn't really saying anything. We play Clemson about twice a decade.
In 2020, it is a new decade.

This is as much about click bait as anything.
No new news. Just clicky clicky.

the thing is though that you are comparing a 1 or 2 loss team (with hard competition) to a 0 or 1 loss team with lesser opponents. The ultimate goal is winnign the SEC, period. If you do that you're in great shape. If we win it with 2 or God forbid 3 losses, you're in trouble.

Here's my thing. We've gone 35 years now without a perfect SEC regular season record. If we were bama and wanted some excitement then sure let's schedule the best we can. But until we prove we can go 8-0 in the SEC every year (in other words, we are going to lose a game in the regular season), I don't see why would should increase the odds of losing yet another one. From a bigger picture point of view, the goal in any season is to win as many games as possible. And to me, adding a game that is maybe a 50/50 chance to win is insane when you can play a team you have a 75/25 chance or better of beating.

Home and Home!! We don't need to give Clemson free and equal promotion in the ATL area. Benefits them WAY more than us. If we play in the Benz get USC, UCLA, UT, someone like that.

I'd say UM, tOSU or Ped St., but they recruiting Ga a little to successfully right now.

The Notre Dame game didn't exactly decimate the program

Call me crazy, but I think those games are GREAT for Georgia football.
