I hope we do play them every year. I was up there for the 13 game and it was an awesome atmosphere. Even though we lost it was a great game, of course 14 was even better.

It really hasn't been that long since we played a home and home with Clemson. Seems like forever ago though. Last time we played them Chubb and Sony were freshmen. Shoeless Nick!!

I like that game as a fan, but they gain a lot more from it than UGA does, competitively

Playing Clemson is a lot like us playing Ga So only slightly more competitive. When we inevitably win no one is shocked because, after all, it’s Auburn with a lake...we own them. In the rare event that we lose to them it’s a MAJOR boost to their programs personae.....the effects last forever in Clemson lore.

The same thing is true of South Carolina. The best thing to ever happen to that program is being in the SEC in a period when we were mediocre at best. We own USCe also...but let them win 2 in a row against us and all of a sudden they are better than Alabama.....no matter how many times they lose to us after that.

I’m of the opinion that you can’t beat Clem’s Son often enough or bad enough but if we are going to add power 5 teams to the schedule I think we should do so outside the South.....at least we get a bump in exposure that way. When we beat Clemson everyone in the South knew it was coming and it gets about as much national attention as us beating GaSo.

Clemson is no joke these days. I'm excited because I hate Clemson, but I think most would see their program as in a better spot then UGA, and rightfully so...great recruiting, great coach, won a natty a few years ago. Us beating them would help us imo.

Clemson is no pushover and I hope we are ready to play when this does come around.

My only hesitation about making Clemson a regular fixture on the schedule is that in those years, there would be no Notre Dame, CFA Kickoff, UCLA/AZ St/OK St/etc.

I wish they'd schedule another P5 school EVERY year and keep the cupcakes limited to in state schools.

Of course, I'd like a 9 game SEC schedule, too, so clearly no one's listening to me.

They weren't a joke in '13 and '14 either, and we handled those games fine. Plus, we're better now as well. I imagine their fans would say the exact same thing about us.

I'm not necessarily sure I'd agree with that.

we have better recruiting and a far more fertile recruiting ground, our coach looks pretty great himself (keep in mind it took dabo 8 years to have a season where he won as many games kirby did in year 2). The title is obviously waht puts dabo in high esteem but that's not really gonna matter much 3 or 4 years from now as it relates to the topic.

they are definitely no pushover but looking at our trajectory I fully expect us to be the better program when 2021ish rolls around.

The loss to Clemson in 2013 was a fluke. What was it, a missed chip shot FG or some similar nonsense?

malcolm mitchell got injured on the first series. Gurley bruised his thigh in the 1st half but still powered through like the beast he is. We counted on rhett mcgown at WR and startd GD Connor Norman at safety. Also missed a gimme field goal late that would have changed the game. All on the road.

Something tells me we will be a bit improved across the board next time we play.

Oh, and we beat the shite out of them the following year at home.

Honestly, if you take away the 2 Deshaun Watson years Dabo is basically a slightly better version of Richt.

Not really,we scored late in the game to pull with 3...our defense sucked that night and the whole year for that matter.Clemson couldn't do much to stop us either but the final outcome wasn't a fluke.

I agree it wasn't a fluke as they were a very good team that year and won the orange bowl. But I also think that we will be so, so much improved (roster wise anyway) when we play again compared to then.

Once again....CONNOR NORMAN was starting in our secondary.

I'm not saying that '13 Clemson team wasn't good. I'm saying that we missed multiple opportunities to win the game, despite our deficiencies in roster.

Oh God, if I think about it too much that '13 defense still gives me ulcers.

Gurley missed almost half of the game. You have to play with the guys that you have and injuries happen. It reminds me of AJ Green missing half of the game against Colorado and we lose a tight one.

Fortunately, we are trending towards a Bama roster (what happened to them in 2017 would have been a 4 loss season for most teams).

Offense scored 21 in 17 minutes and then 7 until a minute left in the game. Gurley injury explains it.

That offense was absurd for the first 4 games before virtually every skill position player got wiped out.

Starting lineup game 1 & Clemson:
QB: Aaron Murray
RB: Todd Gurley
Keith Marshall
FB: Quayvon Hicks
WR: Malcolm Mitchell
Michael Bennett
Justin Scott-Wesley

Game 6 vs Missouri:
QB: Aaron Murray
RB: Brendan Douglas
J.J. Greene
WR: Chris Conley
Rantavious Wooten
Reggie Davis

fricking Blake Tibbs caught a pass in that Mizzou game.

We didn’t have gurley for half of Clemson and Mitchell for none of it. It stunk for most of the game because of it.

All due respect but when your name is Clem’s son the jokes write themselves....you’ll always be a joke no matter what.

The only way Clemson is in a better spot than us right now is the fact that they are in the ACC. Their path to a natty is much easier. We are 2 plays away from having 2 nattys in 5 years with 2 different coaches,,,,,,,and only thwarted both times by arguably the best college football dynasty of all time. We played 3 legitimate play off teams this season.... 2 of them in our conference and one of those twice......and the eventual national champion about as close as can be done. The only way to know will be looking at both programs 10 years from now.....and we are going to have to play Alabama, LSU or Auburn EVERY YEAR to get into the playoff......Clemson will have Va Tech or Ga Tech or FSU or a Mark Richt lead Miami.....their path is infinitely easier.

Seriously....would you prefer facing Gus Mahlzaan or Saban anytime during the season or Mark Richt at the beginning or the end of a season? We know what Mark Richt teams do in big games.....I’ll take Miami every time.....

Don't forget though, Gurley missed much of that game with a leg injury. He was just as overwhelming against them in 2013 as in 2014, just limited by injury up there.
